Bridget: blogging, literature, cooking, travel, mother, business owner, Mormon.

Hi, I'm Bridget

I'm a blogger, literature lover, culinary experimenter, and travel-oholic. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm married with six children. I volunteer as an art docent in my kids' elementary school. I like theatre and musicals. I work in my family's business.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon home. At the age of 21, I began to question and doubt whether I went to church because my parents did or because I really believed. Through a lot of prayer and study over several weeks, I found that God really does answer my prayers...just like he answered the prayers of so many before me. I felt a quiet assurance that God loves me and that he sent his son Jesus Christ to provide a path back to him. Heavenly Father spoke to prophets of old and they recorded their experiences in the scriptures. He still speaks to prophets today and His church is led by one, Thomas S. Monson. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true and I'm so glad I belong. I have been greatly blessed through obedience to the commandments...commandments I wouldn't know anything about if it weren't for church.

Personal Stories

How has attending Church services helped you?

Attending church helps me keep gospel principles in the forefront of my mind. I like learning about prophets and people of ancient times and being able to apply their experiences to my life. All of us have different backgrounds, which enables really interesting insights to be brought up in classes.

Why do Mormons go on missions?

I served a mission because I wanted to make a positive difference in the lives of others. What I didn't realize until later was that the most important person I affected was me. Through trials of my faith I felt the love and peace that comes from living the gospel of Jesus Christ.

What is hope and what do you hope for?

Hope is a choice. It involves looking forward to something with reasonable confidence that it can happen. I hope to become a better person, wife and mother. I hope that I will be able to teach my children what they need to know and do in order to positively contribute to society. My greatest hope is in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. And the possibility of reuniting with my little boy who died too young.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday even when I'm on vacation. I team-teach 3 year olds for Sunday School and visit a few women from our women's group outside of regular Sunday meetings each month.
