Hi, I'm David Shane
I hope my own experiences can help you find answers and peace in your life.
About Me
Hi! My name is Dave...as you probably noticed. I hope you can find the peace and answers in life that you are looking for—and hopefully I can help lead you in the right direction.
I’m married with two beautiful daughters. I love doing everything! You name it...Mt. biking, running, playing my guitar...and yes, even yard work...when necessary. But, like everyone, I have my hard days too.
I know that God has taught me they way for us to live and find lasting peace and happiness in life. Because of the gospel of Jesus Christ, I know that I will see my mother again, who passed away from a heartbreaking battle with cancer. I know that God has called prophets today to help guide us and better understand the scriptures among the hundreds of thousands of opinions out there. Most of all, I know that when I need help or to be uplifted I can turn to God in prayer and realize that He really is there looking over me personally.
Just remember that no one can convince you what to believe. If you want to know for yourself if the things I believe are true...then don’t take my word for it—read The Book of Mormon and ask God for yourself in prayer. He will tell you. You will never know if a light switch works, if you don’t flip the switch to see.
If you feel like you don’t understand everything about God and religion—no worries. If you have questions about our beliefs and how the Gospel of Jesus Christ works, just ask us. But most importantly, ask God and He will guide you.
Why I am a Mormon
Because I find peace in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and I beleive that Jesus Christ literally guides The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As I approached God in prayer, scripture study, and a sincere desire to learn, He personally witnessed this to me, by the power of the Holy Ghost, and helped me come to know that He has called true prophets in our day to guide His church. Simply put, I have recieved a witness about the truth of His teachings and the purpose of life through the power of the Holy Ghost.
Personal Stories
Why do Mormons go on missions?
I had the privilege of spending two years, during my early twenties, teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the Midwestern United States. I am more than happy to share my beliefs with others about Jesus Christ and His teachings through the Book of Mormon, Holy Bible and prophets in our day. I hope to help others understand my beliefs and generate respect for one another--even if they do not believe the same things I do.
How has the Holy Ghost helped you?
It has filled me with love for others and peace in times of stress. It has also witnessed to me the truth of God's teachings.
How I live my faith
I strive to practice what I preach by loving God and others around me. Effort and constant, honest and sincere prayer are key. Acknowledging my own faults and strengths helps me feel humbled and recognize that everyone could use a helping hand in life.
