Hi, I'm Matt
I'm a Mormon
About Me
I currently live in England, in Melbourne, Derbyshire.
I've been very happily married for 5 years going on 6 and i have 3 beautiful children.
I have worked in many varying capacities. My very first job was as a cardboard box maker. I now work at a major pharmacy led business in the Midlands n the UK as a Logisitc Site Manager on nights full time at the time of writing.
I presently enjoy running 3 miles every other day. I have lost 2 stone as a result - yippee!
Me and my Wife currently enjoy reading a Church manual called Preach my Gospel.
Preach My Gospel, is a missionary book/manual that the full time missionaries of the church study before they go on their 2 year missions. Church leaders have encouraged the members study it too! So many wonderful quotes from scriptures and Prophets ancient and modern. We love it!
Why I am a Mormon
I was born into the Mormon faith as my Mum and Dad were converts to the Church in the 1960's in England. I was baptised into the Church at 8yrs old by my brother and received the Priesthood when i became 12yrs old. When you reach the age of 12 you can receive the Priesthood. I stayed faithful to the Church until i became a teenager, then I decided to go less active from the Church.
I look back at my decision to go less active from the Church as my single worst decision of my life.
So, back to my story, i spent nearly 10 years away from Church activity, but i came to a point in my life where i really began to question 'what is this life all about?' 'where am i going?' 'where will i go to?'. I received answers to these questions through my Bishop, through my own personal prayer and scriptures study. I attended all my Church mtg's including Sacramant mtg, i served in various callings, i continued to work for a living so i could pay my tithing each week. These are some of the ways i have lead my life as a Mormon.
I am always learning, but one thing i do know for certain and i have a witness through the spirit of is i know that i have a Saviour. I know that he lives and was Ressurected so all mankind could live again with their families in the eternities and if we let him his power can and will heal us all. This is the greatest gift ever given to mankind above all the gifts here on the earth and i also know that these are the latter days with the Gospel of Jesus Christ restored to the earth through a Prophet of God, even Joesph Smith.
I know the Heavenly Father and his ressurected Son Jesus Christ appeared to the boy Joesph when he was 14yrs old in the grove of trees and that is exactly what happened, which i have a testimony of.
We still have living prophets on the earth at this very moment, Thomas S Monson being the prophet here on the earth at this time.
Personal Stories
Could you talk about your baptism?
I was baptised when i was 8 years old, which would have been 1983. I was born into the Church. My parents were converts in the '60's.
My older brother baptised me in Nottingham 1st ward, which is in the UK.
I don't remember too much about my baptism, but what i do remember is feeling a warm loving feeling in my heart, which i know now to have been the spirit confirming what had just taken place pleased my Heavenly Father.
How I live my faith
I strive to live my faith in recognising all that i come into contact with is actually a son or daughter of heavenly Father. If he was here on the earth he would want to love all that were righteous and has a pure heart.
I strive to live and have a mind in tune to the Father through my own personal Prayers and Scripture study..
At the moment i serve in a calling at Church as the 2nd cuncillor on the Bishopric.
A calling is like having a job in the Church, but we are not paid to do these calllings. It is a joy to help to bless the lives of those that attend Church each week. That is enough pay for me :o
One of the blessing of this calling is i get to conduct the sacrament meetings. The sacrament meeting is the most important meeting we hold at Church as this is a time to partake of the bread and water in remembrance of Jesus Christ. As we remember him we receive blessings.
