Rebecca: Mormon.

Hi I'm Rebecca

About Me

I was married to my best friend in the Salt Lake Temple in 2005. We have two beautiful children and are a National Guard family for the United States Army. We love serving the Lord, serving our country, and serving our fellowmen! "...when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." - Mosiah 2:17 We speak English and European Portuguese and we love to learn about new places and things and meet people from all around the world. Some day we hope to travel to different countries with our children.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were both Mormon when I was born, and they attended Church regularly, so I was born and raised Mormon. However, my parents never forced us to go to Church or participate in Church activities. I felt so peaceful when I attended Church activities, and as I read the Book of Mormon, studied the gospel, and listened to the voice of the Prophets, I couldn't help but believe! The Spirit testifies the truth of the gospel to anyone who is willing to hear and feel it! I know that I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father - I know He lives, and I know He loves me and has a plan for me. The gospel of Jesus Christ makes that clear. I know there are prophets who speak to us today. Their very existence reminds me that Heavenly Father is mindful of me and cares about me. I know that we existed before this life, and that we will exist after this life. Our Spirits are immortal and eternal. Because of the atonement of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and because He was resurrected, we can live with God and Jesus again and be as They are. There is a comfort and peace that I feel as I study the gospel and pray to my Father in Heaven. I know who I am and that I have a purpose in this life - and in the life to come.

Personal Stories

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

Prayer is the way we communicate with Heavenly Father. I know that it is important to keep in close contact with Him, so that we can understand His will for us. When I pray, I can feel Him listening. I know that He is mindful of me. Usually, when I pray, as I try to pray in humility and with a sincere heart, I find my desires changing and becoming more in line with gospel principles. The more I pray, the closer I feel to Heavenly Father, and the more inspiration I can receive throughout my day. As a wife and mother, I can use all the help I can get! I know that when I begin my day with prayer, and when I take the time to say small prayers throughout the day, Heavenly Father will guide my actions and my emotions that day. It is a great blessing to be able to rely on the Father and know that He is there listening. Especially as my husband serves in the military, since he is often away from home, and occasionally we have no contact with him. I know that my husband is praying to the Father, and as I pray to the Father I don't feel so alone without my husband, because I know that Heavenly Father is binding us together through our prayers to Him - no matter the distance!

How I live my faith

I love music and I love the gospel of Jesus Christ, so nothing is better to me than putting the gospel of Jesus Christ to music! I have had the blessing of serving as a choir director in several different congregations, and I love it! Nothing can be more profound that being at the front of 20-30 voices singing praises to the Lord, and teaching through music. I have also been able to serve as a children's Sunday School teacher for children between the ages of 10 and 12. I was able to serve with my husband, and we taught both English and Spanish speaking children. It was really neat to watch my husband switch between English and Spanish, making sure all the students understood the valuable lessons that we were learning from the scriptures. One of my favorite roles, though, is that of visiting teacher. As a visiting teacher, I am assigned to look after and care for two or three sisters (and their families). I love becoming friends with these sisters and visiting, calling, and serving them in the ways they need.
