Hi, I'm Kristel
I 'm a nurse, teacher, maid, accountant, chef, counselor, and i have juggled three kids in diapers. I'm a mom and I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I am a mother of 5. I love to find fun and creative ways for our children to learn and grow. I help my husband run our small company. I am so grateful this keeps me in the home so I can be with my young children this is a blessing I don't take lightly.
Why I am a Mormon
When I was 12 it was suggested I find out if the Book of Mormon is true by reading and then praying to recieve an answer. I remember reading and feeling like the things I read were good for my behalf and helped me come closer to Jesus Christ. I then felt a great desire to know if the Book of Mormon was true. I knelt in a humble and sincere prayer asking my Father in Heaven to make it known to me if the Book of Mormon is true. I was unsure how I would recieve an answer from my Father in Heaven would it be a writing on the wall or a lightning outside or an angel declaring it to me. No, I knew a from others testimonies that answers from our Father in Heaven come more as a feeling in your heart and mind. When I was praying I felt knowledge fill my mind that I could not longer doubt that the Book of Mormon was true I knew it was true. With this insight I desired to continue to find more truth through prayer and study.
Personal Stories
Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.
When I think of Joseph Smith I think of a humble boy who sought for insight from heaven. He recieved insight and witnessed the Father and the Son. He said he could not deny it because he knew God knew it. Joseph Smith brought about power for each of us. Power to recieve our own personal revelations. Power to have the same priesthood that Moses had. Temples as the children of Israel had and there be bound together as families forever. I am so grateful to the witness, testimony and work Joseph Smith did through the power of the Almighty.
How has the Book of Mormon brought you closer to God?
The Book of Mormon has brought me closer to God when I have pondered, studied and prayed about the things I read. I love the verses in Mormon which discuss Charity, how it is the pure love of Christ, how we can pray to have charity in our lives. I have prayed for charity and feel I always will. This helps me have joy in my family relationships and also helps me see what service I can do and offer to my community.
How I live my faith
I like to read the scriptures because they help me find answers to my questions and concerns along with prayer. I also think it is important keep the Lord's commandments. One that blesses me is keeping the sabbath day holy by attending church meetings and partaking of the sacrament, when I do these things it shows Heavenly Father and Jesus that I love them and want to remember what they have done for me and show them I will try my best to do good.
I have had opportunities to serve at church by being a leader to young women ages 12-18. I served them by creating activities called mutual activities and teaching them the gospel with other leaders on Sunday. The mutual activities are for the benefit of the girls, they plan these activities with us. They are fun and give the girls a chance to gain talents, skills, leadership training, friendships, they also serve the community during these activities. They make and achieve goals to help them be their best selves. I was so glad for their good examples, they show me that there can be pure and virtuous females in this world.
