Paige Nicole: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Paige Nicole

I'm a newly wed and loving EVERY second of it.

About Me

I am an Allergy Technician, student at a University, and a young wife. I am also a daughter, a sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. I love laughing, learning, and loving. My life is not perfect, but I am grateful for the opportunity of the adventure. :D I have goals, dreams, and ambitions. I also have fears, worries, and concerns about the future, but one thing is certain. I've decided to give my life to the Lord. I know he can do more with it than I can anyway. That decision sweeps away fears and instills faith. I am a Daughter of God and I am Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I am a Christian. I know this is Christ's church - restored to the earth like it was in ancient times. I didnt come to know that because He came down and told me, but I can feel it. Living the principles this gospel has taught me has made me happy. The happiness this gospel brings me is real - because it lasts. Its not temporary. I'm able to have peace even when the world is so unsettled. I'm a mormon because of the Book of Mormon. It has strengthened my testimony of my Savior and has helped me learn more about Him.

Personal Stories

In what ways have your prayers been answered?

I could write page after page of how my personal prayers have been answered. I will say, when I was first learning about prayer, i thought since Heavenly Father answered all my prayers that they would be answered immediately. I would kneel down to pray and expect the answer to come while on my knees. I've learned that I rarely receive answers this way. It is so important to set apart time each day to "be still" and ponder your questions. This sacred time allows for the Holy Ghost to whisper to your spirit answers to your questions. Answers are not loud, they will not compete with loud noises from the world. Allow Heavenly Father to bring peace and comfort into your life by making time for Him. He loves you, and is anxious to answer prayers.

Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.

I have tremendous respect for the prophet joseph smith. He endured many things. He stayed faithful through them all. I know that he is a prophet of God. If you read the Book of Mormon and the Joseph Smith History, and sincerely pray to know if Joseph was a prophet of God, your prayer will be answered. Joseph Smith, second to the Savior Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father, has impacted my life more than anyone ever to come to this Earth. I know what he did can change your life and bring you peace and comfort in this loud crazy world.

Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?

The Savior taught many things that have influenced me greatly. Lately one in particular has stuck out to me. The Savior said, "inasmuch as ye have done it unto the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." When I deal with family members, co-workers, friends, and complete strangers, this phrase comes to mind. It reminds me not only of who I am, but who these people are whom I'm dealing. Each person I come in contact with is a VIP to our Savior, and should be treated as such. :)

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?

I'm sure each of us can recall a time when we told what we thought was a white lie. Because of that lie, we then told another lie to cover the first... and eventually we've got ourself into quite a mess over something very simple. When we make a choice, for example, to be honest from the beginning, it is much easier to continue in honesty. It is the same in all things. When we choose to follow Christ, we already know what decisions we're going to make and we're prepared to make those correct decisions. We then feel the peace and happiness from choosing the right come into our lives. When this happens, our desire to choose the right increases.

How has your knowledge of the Plan of Happiness changed/benefited your life?

My knowledge of the Plan Heavenly Father has created for His children has dramatically influenced my life. It personally has changed my life because i've made mistakes and I'm in the process of learning and growing. The plan offers me the chance to repent and become like my father in Heaven. Also, I have many family members who do not share in my faith. Many of them wonder in life and have made poor decisions. This plan offers them the chance to be clean again and also become like the Savior. This plan is such a merciful plan. It brings hope and joy to me to know that all those who i love I can and will see again. This life is not the end.

Can you think of a specific challenge in your family that Gospel Principles helped overcome?

I have a HUGE family. We are a blended family. Blending a family is not for the faint of heart. It is hard enough having your parents divorce and have to get a new life, but to add another family and their ways and traditions can be a challenge. With my family, my mom had seven daughters and my step dad have 5 children (three boys and two girls). We did NOT get along. I often wondered if we all were never going to speak again once we grew up. Our parents prayed and tried to get us to love each other. We read scriptures together. We tried family home evening together, nothing worked immediately. But, over the years these experiences drew us close to one another. One thing we all had in common is each of us developed a relationship with my older brother cody. He passed away this summer; seven years since our parents were married. His passing was the hardest thing any of us have gone through. But through our consistency to live the way Heavenly Father wanted our family to, we had faith and grew even closer as a family. Now we speak of Cody often, and we are all striving to live worthy to be with him again. The savior has healed our broken family, and he continues to do so.

What is hope and what do you hope for?

Hope is expecting something you want to come. Hope is where you're not just wishing, you're waiting. You know in time, what ever your heart desires, if you live righteously, you will receive it. Its not about if, its about when. We hope for things and trust God's timetable. I hope to one day have an eternal family; my family all together worshiping God and praising Him as we obey His commandments.

How has the Book of Mormon brought you closer to God?

One summer, when I was 15 years old, i decided to read the whole Book of Mormon before High School started. To accomplish this I needed to read at least 6 pages a day. I had read the Book of Mormon before, but never like this. At first it was difficult. I had never given so much time to studying scriptures. Eventually it not only became easy, but I couldn't wait to read it each day. It was a very enjoyable summer. I was proud of myself in August when I had finished, but I was yet to know of the impact it had on my life...
A week or so before school started there was a sophomore orientation at my High School. Following being shown around the school we were escorted to the tennis courts for a stomp. I looked around at the people I knew from Junior High. I remember standing and quietly doing some self reflection. Other kids who I wanted to be like, no longer interested me. I did not care what they thought of me anymore. I looked down at my simple yet nice attire and realized that the school year before was much different. I heard swearing and loud immoral music. I immediately wanted to leave. I did not want the spirit I had felt all summer to leave me... What had happened to me? I was no longer self conscious and confused. I was confident and hopeful. I was happy. A large part of me just wanted to tell them the things I learned about true beauty; true happiness. I didn't fit in with the "Popular crowd" and I'm grateful. Richard G. Scott, an apostle of the Lord, said, "Be grateful that your righteous life molds you so that you don't fit in where you don't belong." As I knelt by my bed that night I thanked Heavenly Father for the Book of Mormon.

What has helped develop greater harmony in your home?

I'm a newlywed. Its just my husband and I. To create a feeling of peace and harmony in our home I need to think more about my husband than myself. My husband and I have decided to put Christ and Heavenly Father first and each other second. When God is my first priority, my husband always closely follows. The little things add up: Helping each other with problems, making dinner together or for each other, surprises, kisses, smiles, praying together, and the list could go on and on. There are a million ways to make our days more harmonious and our lives more joyous!

Could you talk about your baptism?

I was baptized when I was eight. This sounds like I'm the typical mormon who didn't have another choice, but I did. I grew up in a family that was far from "staunch mormon" . My paternal grandmother, whom i spent much time with, was a strong southern baptist. My experiences with her at a young age opened my eyes to how many paths of religion were available. At an age when the other children I went to primary with didn't even know there were churches that didn't believe in the Book of Mormon, I had been well exposed. I looked into the differences I noticed. I wanted to know why we believed in the Book of Mormon and other churches didn't. I read the book as often and I could and I compared the feeling I had when I learned about Joseph Smith to the feeling I had attending my grandmothers church. I knew from a young age that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was God's church on Earth. It was restored through the prophet Joseph Smith. God loves each of His children and would love all of them to know this truth.

What have you done successfully to shield your family from unwanted influences?

To shield my family (my husband and I) from unwanted influences we, in large part, have to rely on the holy ghost. I feel like Satan is not tempting us with literal bad things to watch and hear but tempting us to waste time doing mediocre things so we don't do the essential things. As we remind each other of what we should be doing and consistently counsel with each other on setting goals, we can be steered away from wasting precious time!

How I live my faith

I live my faith each day, step by step, and moment by moment. It's not a huge thing; it's a million little things : praying when I wake up, before i eat, and before a big test ;) . Its in how I try to treat my family. Its in how i speak and how i dress. I live my faith by listening to and watching things that strengthen my faith. I live my faith by having patience in the trials this life has given me. I trust Heavenly Father even when things dont go my way.
