Hi, I'm Stefan
I want to be a physicist. I'm from Washington State. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I'm a college student working towards my bachelors degree. I enjoy the beauty of the outdoors, and have a love for music. Science has always held me captivated, especially physics, which I am currently studying. I have a passion for learning, and big ambitions to eventually obtain a Ph.D in Physics.
Why I am a Mormon
I am a Mormon by choice, and because of my personal experiences. My conversion to the gospel didn't come right away even though I was born into a family of members. It wasn't until I was eighteen that I desired to know if the gospel was true. My answer and conviction came after several hours of pondering the teachings found in the Book of Mormon and many prayers. I didn't know what to expect, but I could feel my Heavenly Fathers love for me as I prayed for an understanding of the Book of Mormons truthfulness. At this time, peace came over me and a thought was impressed upon my mind that there is a God who loves me, and that His desire is that I succeed and eventually return to live with Him again someday. This experience, strengthened by many others over the years, is why I have faith and hope. This is why I am a Mormon.
Personal Stories
What are you doing to help strengthen your family and make it successful?
With the world that I live in being so chaotic, it is often hard to find time to enjoy the blessings of my family. I am grateful that we share a common belief and values that drive us to be kinder and show more love towards one another and others. I try to help strengthen my families ties by encouraging activities where I can interact with them, find out more about them and their accomplishments and their struggles. This is often something as simple as making dinner and setting a place at the dinner table for each family member and then collecting them so we can eat together. We all contribute to building one another up, and I'm grateful that my family recognizes each family members efforts to lift and support each other through our trials. These are all lessons I learned at an early age from my parents who taught us by their example in living gospel principles.
Think about your everyday activities. What are things you act upon each day where you cannot see the end results? How does faith move you to action?
As an undergraduate student studying physics I wish I understood and could perhaps even glimpse the end result of my efforts to comprehend the workings of the world my Heavenly Father created. However, I have faith that the time I spend studying will bless my family and others as I serve in my community and in my home later in life. The trial of learning is something that I believe helps me to grow. My faith in Jesus Christ and my knowledge of the gospel helps me to recognize the blessing it is to receive the education I do, and motivates me to keep working when I struggle in my schoolwork. I find peace in knowing that my Heavenly Father loves me and wants me to pursue an education. This peace and motivation I feel each day comes from the knowledge I have of my Heavenly Father and the plan He has prepared for my family and I as we continue to move forward in faith through our daily endeavors.
How I live my faith
I live my faith through the small, simple daily opportunities that I am given by my Heavenly Father. Things like helping someone to smile, or sharing my optimism for life with a friend who is feeling down on themselves are ways I share the love my Savior has for me. Occasionally, I find times to share my love for the gospel that I am a part of by giving talks on Sunday or leading a class discussion on gospel topics at church.
