Hi, I'm Heidi Marie
"I believe in the Savior.... I'll honor His name.... His truth I will proclaim!"
About Me
I am a young single adult. I obtained my master's degree a couple of years ago and now enjoy working a full-time job in my field. I am one of 8 children--my parents and siblings all being active members of the Church. I love things of literary, musical, and homemaking natures.
Why I am a Mormon
I like how President Gordon B. Hinckley said it: “When [an individual] is motivated by great and powerful convictions of truth, then he disciplines himself, not because of demands made by the Church but because of the knowledge within his heart.”
Personal Stories
Why do Mormons go on missions?
The Gospel truly is "good news!" It is full of light and truth. It brings happiness beyond understanding, beyond comparison, and beyond measure. Jesus Christ command us to share the Gospel with everyone (Matthew 24:14, Mark 16:15). But those who truly love Jesus Christ and His Gospel cannot help but want to share it. Missions are opportunities for members to go out in the world and share the Gospel in a full-time capacity. However, it is a very true mantra that every member should be a missionary, and a responsibility of ours to be so.
Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?
I could not live without prayer. It is my link to my Father in Heaven, through the mediator who is Jesus Christ. I need prayer. I need prayer for when I need guidance from a Father who wants to help me find happiness, knowledge, and choose what will be best for me. I need prayer when I need reassurance during my moments of doubt. I need prayer for when I need comfort, because Heavenly Father knows life will be rough my surest succor can only come through His Son who suffered every kind of pain and thus knows best how to help me--if I but ask. I need it for when I have the greatest joys and long to tell my Father who wants to share in those joys with me.
Without prayer, I would be lost, confused, and feeling very alone. I am grateful that I know I can speak to my Father whenever, wherever, and as often as I need and desire.
In what ways have your prayers been answered?
My prayers have been answered in more ways than I could recount. But one way I have had them answered is through good music. The comfort, knowledge, or reassurance that I have needed and been asking for often comes through a song that the Lord puts in my path.
How I live my faith
I am the pianist in my Young Single Adult 18-30 ward's women's organization known as Relief Society, playing the piano in our Sunday meetings and where ever else I may be needed to play. I am a Visiting Teacher, visiting sisters in the Relief Society to give them spiritual message, see how they are doing, and improve our friendships.
I attend any activities and meetings throughout the week that I am able to go to. The weekly scripture study classes known as Institute is one of my favorite activities. The highlight of my week outside of attending church on Sundays is serving in the temple.
