Ron Wilson: mormon, motorcycles, ATV, hiking, father, social media, Mormon.

Hi, I'm Ron Wilson

I'm a husband, father, advertiser, and avid sportsman. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 5th generation Mormon. When I was 19-years old I served a mission for our Church in Virgina and West Virginia, in the United States. I later finished college and earned a degree in Biomedical Sciences. I am married to a wonderful woman who makes me want to be a better man. I have 4 children...3 girls and 1 boy. My family enjoys nature...hiking, ATV riding, and camping.

I work in the advertising/marketing industry. I enjoy my work, but find true happiness in being a husband and father. I find peace in being Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon. My parents were born Mormon. My grandparents were born Mormon. My great-grandmother was born Mormon. My great-great-grandfather converted to Mormonism in 1830, the year The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was established. My great-great-grandfather was at one time a bodyguard for Joseph Smith. So, I guess you could say that Mormonism is in my blood. But, as most Mormons I had to decide for myself if Mormonism was for me.

This decision came as I decided that I wanted to serve as a missionary for my Church. If I was going to teach people about Mormonism, I had to know for myself that it was all that it claimed to be. I spent months studying the Book of Mormon, and the Bible. I researched the early days of Mormonism, and read as much as I could about Joseph Smith. I had to know if this religion was real or just a well crafted hoax.

At the culmination of my "testing" Mormonism I knew that I had to ask God if this is His Church and if He did authorize its creation. I prayed more fervently for an answer then I had ever prayed before. Well, to make a long story short...I did serve a mission and I have been an active, engaged Mormon to this day.

Personal Stories

What are you doing to help strengthen your family and make it successful?

There is nothing more important to me than my family...my wife and my children are my joy and my happiness. Because they are so important to me, I spend most of my free time with them. I want my children to be raised in a manner that will instill in them the knowledge that there is a God, who is their Father; that they have a noble birthright as children of God with unlimited potential; that they can find peace in a world full of turmoil.

My wife and I make sure that prayer (family and personal) is a daily part of our children's lives. We make sure that we eat family dinner together every night, and that afterwards we spend time together doing homework, playing together, reading, and talking. We also dedicate one night every week to our family where there are no distractions or activities outside of our home; this night is to help strengthen our family relations and our conviction to God and Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I try every day to live my faith as a Mormon by serving in my community. I serve in my local congregation in the bishopric (the local leadership of a Mormon congregation); I serve my neighbors by assisting where needed - spring clean-up projects, serving the elderly and those in need, and coordinating food drives for the needy are just a few examples of community service.

I also try to live my faith by trying to be the best person I can be. I know that God expects me to be the best I can be, but that I am only human and will often make mistakes. Gratefully, when I make mistakes I can ask forgiveness from God and from those I have offended. And through Jesus Christ's Atonement, I can be forgiven for my mistakes.
