Hi, I'm N. Ross
I've lived in England, Scotland and America. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I feel like I'm an a-typical LDS mom. My husband and I met while we were in graduate school and we both have Ph.Ds. We have a small, young family with two little girls. I spend much of my time at home taking care of them, but I also teach classes at the local college. My husband and I enjoy gardening, keeping chickens and bees and enjoying the outdoors with our children.
Why I am a Mormon
Ever since I was a small child, I believed in a God that knew me and loved me. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I feel that I have had many opportunities to develop that faith and put it into practice. The Church has so many answers to life's questions and I feel that these answers are interesting. Many of these answers seem so simple, but they are really complex. In my study of the gospel, I am trying to understand these complexities. I want to know God and be like him and I feel that being a Mormon will help me to get there. Other churches teach other things, many of which are good, but only the LDS church teaches that people we can continue to learn and grow eternally. That really resonates with me.
Personal Stories
Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?
Family history work supports temple worship. Temple ordinances help knit families together forever and enable ancestors to continue to grow and learn. I have spent a lot of time working on family history and I feel that it has great value. I imagine my ancestors waiting in a waiting room, stuck there until someone calls their number. They can't progress, or get out of that waiting room, without temple work. When I am in the temple helping them, I feel their love and gratitude.
How I live my faith
I work with the youth organization, especially with teenage girls, and help to plan and coordinate activities. I sometimes teach lessons to teenage girls on Sundays and I write a monthly newsletter. I love writing the newsletter because the girls look forward to reading it each month. I also visit regularly with other women to find out how they're doing and to offer help and assistance where needed.
