Hi, I'm S. Christensen
I'm a Mormon. I am an early-morning Seminary teacher .
About Me
I am a public high school teacher, so I spend most of my time with teenagers. I help students and teachers use technology in school. Before that, I taught freshman, sophomore and junior English. I love to read and be around people. I love my family very much and spend most of my free time with them.
Why I am a Mormon
I was born a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and it has been the only religion I have ever known. I get a good feeling from my belief and have never wanted to look elsewhere. Through the power of prayer and scripture reading I have found answers to my questions in life and have great peace in living the beliefs of my church.
Personal Stories
Why do Mormons go on missions?
Mormons go on missions to serve God whole-heartedly for 2 years if you're a young man or 18 months if you are a young woman. Missions give members the opportunity to put their whole heart, mind and strength in the work of God as they do not have regular jobs, live with their families or participate in worldly entertainment like TV, movies or computer games. Missions are as much for individual member spiritual growth as they are to bring new members to the knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I served an 18 month mission in Southern California to the Spanish-speaking people who live there and my life has been greatly enriched because I did so.
How I live my faith
I go to church every Sunday and work in our temple every Saturday. That is just what I do and it makes me very happy. I get strength from this to help me make it through the work week. It is important for me to worship every Sunday. I teach the youth and am currently studying the Book of Mormon for Seminary and the Old Testament in the Bible for Sunday School. I also love to read church historical fiction.
