Hi, I'm Emily
I love to travel. I love to read. I love to play soccer. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I love being a mom. I have two miracle sons. One is adopted, of Indian (India) descent. The other was born to us after almost 12 years of infertility.
We love to travel and will be driving across the United States this summer.
I love to read biographies and the classics.
I have a large garden and grow tomatoes, peas, onions, peppers, raspberries, strawberries, squash, asparagus, and pumpkins. I love to make homemade salsa from the garden.
I also work every once in a while as a dental hygienist. Yes! I have whitened my teeth!
Why I am a Mormon
I love my Savior Jesus Christ. I try to pattern my life after Him. This Church helps me to do this.
I know that I am a child of God. I know where I came from. I know why I am here. I know where I am going after I die. This gives me a great sense of purpose and desire to serve and bless others.
Because of the blessings of the temple, I can be with my family forever...not just 'till death do we part. I love my family and want to be with them always.
Personal Stories
How has the Holy Ghost helped you?
There are too many ways He has helped me to record here, but I will share one experience.
My husband had been working for 4 years on getting his commercial pilot's license and enough hours to be hired by a commercial airline as a pilot.
He was hired on and began his training. Things were not going well. He was not enjoying his career as much as he thought he would. He called me one day and said that he was going to quit. I was devastated. We had worked and sacrificed and given so much to get him to this point. We had spent tens of thousands of dollars on acquiring his hours. I worried what he would do to support our family. I worried about our future.
I was inconsolable. Then, I felt the influence of the Holy Ghost come over me and wrap me, as it were, in a warm blanket. I felt that everything would be OK. I felt a comforting influence that calmed me and helped me to comfort my husband in his distress.
I am grateful for the power of the Holy Ghost.
Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.
I love Joseph the Prophet. I know that he was called of God to restore authority to the earth. I know that he received revelation after revelation from God. He communed with angels, including Peter, James, John, John the Baptist, Elijah, Moses. Most significantly, he communed with Jesus Christ and God the Father.
I do not worship him, but I revere him as a prophet of God.
What is hope and what do you hope for?
Hope is an assurance that comes from the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
We hoped for many years for a child. While it was hard at times to not have children like we wanted, we had hope, and assurance, that the Lord was aware of us and our desires.
I hope for my children to be with me forever. I hope for a glorious resurrection. I hope for peace and harmony in my home.
How can we develop greater harmony in our homes?
I have noticed that as I read the scriptures and pray daily with my family that there is a greater sense of peace and harmony in our home.
Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?
I love to do family history work because when I read about my ancestors and their strength and virtue and faith, it strengthens my resolve to live up to the legacy they have left me.
I found out that many of my ancestors were early pilgrims in America. They were part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony and settlers in Jamestown. I am proud of this heritage. It gives me a greater sense of identity.
How I live my faith
I get to work with the 16-18 year old young women in the Church. They are amazing girls who know who they are! They have confidence in themselves and know that they are daughters of God. Because of this knowledge, they are driven and focused. They do well in school. They have lots of friends. They are leaders. They keep themselves pure and clean.
I also get to visit a few women in my neighborhood at least once a month. I love to go into their homes and talk about God and how to better raise our families.
I look forward to Monday nights. We reserve this time for our family. We sing songs and do activities and have treats and study the Bible and the Book of Mormon. We also study the words of our modern day prophets.
I also volunteer at my son's elementary school. Education is important to me.

Joseph Smith
As is the case throughout history God has communicated to His children through prophets. God used a humble man as a prophet to restore His Church on earth who ultimately died defending His faith.
