Hi, I'm Kathleen
I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I guess you could say I'm a scientist. I have a master's degree in physics and I'm currently working on a PhD in astronomy. I'm hoping to go to medical school after my PhD. Maybe you could also say I'm a professional student. But I love learning. I love science, and I love knowing how the universe works. I want to be a doctor so that I can use science to improve people's lives.
Why I am a Mormon
Although I was raised in the Mormon church, both of my parents are converts to the church. They found the church when they were searching for answers to important questions about life, and that's one of the most important things the church does for me. It gives me answers to many questions, and it gives me hope that questions that are now unanswered do in fact have answers that we will learn one day. The church gives me the knowledge that I am a daughter of heavenly parents who want me to become like them. It also gives me the power to be with my family for all of eternity.

How can your talents and gifts bless others?
I think it's so interesting that God has given everyone a different set of talents - no two people are good at exactly the same set of things. Everyone has things they do well and things that are hard for them. God could have made us all good at everything and given us everything we would ever need, and then life would have been really easy, but then we would never have been able to experience the blessings and unity that come from working together. When we help other people and allow others to help us we form the lasting relationships that are what bring really happiness to us. I think that the most important things in life are the relationships we have with our families and friends, and using our talents and gifts to serve each other is what strengthens those relationships and lets us find happiness together.
How I live my faith
I think my favorite part of church on Sundays is Sunday school class. I see Sunday school not so much as a class but as a discussion group. I used to be the Sunday school teacher we all kind of take turns having different jobs in the church, and I always made it my goal to have the people in the class do more talking than I did. A class like that is such a great place for everyone to learn and share together, and I always come away from it with new thoughts and ideas about how to improve my life and be a happier person.
