Daniel S.: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Daniel S.

I grew up in Arizona. I want to be a medical researcher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm going to college, majoring in Physiology and Developmental Biology. I just started to do research in a cancer lab. I love to be in the outdoors; running, hiking, swimming, camping and the like. I'm the youngest of four kids, and have 3 nieces and 2 nephews. I'm trying to teach myself piano and guitar, and I am working on being able to hold a conversation in several languages.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in this church, learning about God and Jesus Christ. I have heard and read the stories of the prophets, both ancient and modern, my whole life. So I guess it just made sense that I was baptized a member of the church. But the reason I am a Mormon today has nothing to do with what my parents or friends believe. I am a Mormon because I know, from personal study and prayer and from multiple witnesses of the Holy Ghost, that Jesus is the Christ. I know that Heavenly Father loves me and wants me to be happy. I know that because of His love for the world He has called prophets in our day and age, beginning with Joseph Smith. The Book of Mormon is a witness to me of God's love, and it brings me peace and understanding in life.

I once knew a man who said that if everything I believed was true, it wouldn't matter if it didn't make life better or happier. I am a Mormon because it does. It makes me so happy, and helps me know what I need to do.

Personal Stories

Why do Mormons go on missions?

Those who serve a mission, do so out of their love for God and for all mankind. We believe that God really is our Heavenly Father, and that as His children, we are all brothers and sisters. It is this love and desire to serve God and bring the happiness that I have in my life to my brothers and sisters that led me to serve a mission. I spent two years in the state of New Jersey, teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to any and all of my brothers and sisters who would listen. It was the best two years of my life, for which I have no regret, even though I am "behind" in my schooling and my checkbook because of it. The joy that comes from seeing a brother or sister repent of their sins, follow Christ and be baptized is indescribable. It has had such a profound difference in my life and has made me into a better man and Christian.

How I live my faith

To me, living my religion means a lot more than just attending church on Sunday, although I do do that. It means visiting the members of my ward, being their friends, seeking ways to serve, care and love them. It means practicing Christ-like charity and seeking for the well-being of others.
