Michael: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Michael

I'm a Mormon and proud of it!

About Me

As a university student, I have made learning a life-long pursuit. I enjoy teaching myself to play new instruments. Piano is my strong point. Guitar is my second-favorite instrument.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up Mormon. My parents are Mormon and so were my grandparents. Some argue that this means that I was brain-washed or something like that. That's simply not true.

I have studied many religions, particularly those that hold Christ as a central figure in God's plan. I realized that they couldn't all be right. I realized that Christ had had appointed 12 apostles in his time to take over for him. I asked myself, what church has 12 apostles. I realized that the only church I knew of that could trace it's authority directly to Christ was this one--the very one that my parents had taught me about!

I had to find out for myself. I read in the Bible, in the book of James chapter1, verse 5. I realized that I could ask God and he would answer me. He did. I felt good--inside and out--as I prayed about this church. It was an amazing feeling unlike any other. I hope everyone prays daily to know whether they are following the path that is best for them.

I know that God is happy with me. What father wouldn't be happy for a child that follows in and finds joy in the process??

Personal Stories

Why do Mormons go on missions?

Simply put, I served a mission because I knew that I would be able to share with others what I had personally felt to be true in my own life. I had prayed to God and he had answered my prayers and continues to do so in such a way that I am motivated to be better every day!

On top of that, I know that religion blesses the family, in particular, as a social unit. It is the basis of our society. God made it that way since the beginning. One of the best ways to obtain happiness in life is to find happiness in the family; to find happiness in the family, we must go to the source of the family and trust in God.

Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?

Sometimes in life, we find ourselves offended by others. Life can be hard at times. Life is very personal and at times other's trespass us. People have trespassed against me in my life.

Christ taught that we should love God with all our heart, might, mind and strength. I have seen that as I do this, I realize that since God is my Heavenly Father, or Father in Heaven, then he would expect that I treat others as Christ treated them. And how did Christ treat those who ridiculed and persecuted Him? He forgave them, even as they mocked Him, taking his clothes from off his back, preparing him to be crucified.

I try to forgive others, even before they ask for forgiveness. Sometimes they never do. Nevertheless, I know that they can eventually be forgiven by Christ nonetheless if they are willing to live up to God's expectations of love and care of others.

God knows we can care for one another. If he didn't think it were possible, I don't think he'd put us here together.

How I live my faith

I love living the gospel as well as I can. Whenever I am troubled, I know I can depend on family and friends in the church. When they can't help me, I read the scriptures with my troubles and personal questions in mind. I seem to land on the exact page of scriptures that answers my personal questions, helping me to solve my problems and thus find greater joy in life.

This is my faith: God works in mysterious way, he loves me, and he wants what is best for me. I strive to live my life in such a way that my beliefs and religiously-founded happiness are made obvious.
