I'm an accounting doctoral candidate. I'm recently married. We just moved to Indiana for school. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm a PhD student at Indiana University. I hope to be done sometime around 2016. I love to play with friends and spend time with my wife. I love BYU and Indiana football and basketball.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a member of Christ's church helps me to come closer to Him. I feel a desire to always improve and be a better person.

When I was 10 years old, my sister died of cancer. Despite the difficulty in our family that came with having someone close to us suffer so much and pass away, I have gained a knowledge through prayer that I can be with her again and live with my family and with my Heavenly Father forever. I know He has a plan for each and every one of us.

What is hope and what do you hope for?

Hope is an expectation of future events. It brings confidence to one's life. It leads us to act in accordance to our hopes/expectations. I love to replace the term "to hope" with "to expect." It really gives me perspective and optimism.

I hope to be with my family forever and live with Heavenly Father. I have hope that through the Savior I will be forgiven of all my sins. I hope that Christ will continue to work miracles in my life as I try to come to Him. I hope to have a family of my own someday with a wife who tries to be like Christ. I hope to graduate with a PhD in accounting.

How I live my faith

My wife and I have a calling in our local church as Primary teachers. We teach the 7 year old children each Sunday about Christ and His teachings. They are truly children of our Heavenly Father, and we enjoy every minute we get to spend with them.

Before getting married, I was a membership clerk for my single's ward. Basically, I help kept track of people in the area so that nobody gets left behind. This is difficult to do sometimes in a student apartment setting as people are moving in and out all the time.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

As a mormon missionary in Mexico for 2 years, I funded my expenses through savings I had built by working from age 14-19. All missionaries fund their own missions through savings, parents, or close friends or neighbors who wish to help contribute.

What is the Law of Chastity?

The power to create children is very sacred. Our Father in Heaven has commanded that the sacred power and privilege of sexual relations be exercised only between a man and woman who are legally married. This is the law of chastity. It means that we must not have sexual relations before we are married, and after we are married we should have sexual relations only with our husband or wife.

Keeping the law of chastity brings safety, happiness, peace, and self-respect. It also deepens married love and protects families. Breaking this law is serious. But those who have broken it can gain forgiveness and peace through repentance and obedience.

God wants the best for you and for all of His children. Following God’s plan of reserving intimacy for marriage will help you and your family be happy.
