I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 4. I have a college education and used to own my own Marketing Agency, but I have chosen to stay home with my children for the last 10 years. I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints my entire life, but my husband is a recent convert to the church. Our family enjoys spending time outdoors, skiing, biking and boating. We also like to do community service with our children to teach them to help others, work hard and appreciate their many blessings.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe in God the Father and in His Son, Jesus Christ. I believe in following their teachings and commandments. This Church teaches you to be a true disciple of Christ. I believe the Bible is true scripture, recorded by Prophets anciently in the Holy Land. I also believe the Book of Mormon is scripture recorded by Prophets anciently on the American continent. These two volumes of scripture are complementary and teach you how to follow Christ. I believe that families can be together forever, not just in this mortal life. The Mormon faith emphasizes the importance of families and teaches us how to love and serve one another. God's plan for His children is beautiful and eternal and I love to learn more each week in Church and as I read the scriptures. There is a living Prophet on the earth today, he leads and guides this Church according to Heavenly Father's will. God has not left us here alone, he loves us and wants us to know Him.

How I live my faith

I love being a member of the LDS Church. Our family attends every Sunday. But we also have many opportunities outside of Sunday worship to participate in Church activities. My youngest son is in Boy Scouts and my 2 older sons achieved their Eagle rank when they were in scouting. My husband volunteers to teach and lead one of the men's groups. And my daughter gets to participate in tons of fun activities with the Young Women's group where I serve as a leader. The Church also plans family activities for all of the members that help everyone to get to know each other and have a wonderful time together. I like to spend personal time studying the scriptures, learning more of our Heavenly Father's love for us, and his plan for all of us. My greatest goal is to be more Christlike and serving my family, friends and those in our ward and community is the best way I know of to follow his example.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Temples are used for specific instruction classes and special ceremonies such as Marriages. You must be a member in good standing, living all the commandments of God to be worthy to enter the Temple.

They are peaceful, pure places, where only those who have committed to live the most discipled lives can go to ponder and pray. They are places where we learn about God's plan for all of humanity, and where we promise to do all in our power to help all of His children, and receive promises that we can be with Him as well. We wear white clothing that is simple, and remove our watches and bling, to demonstrate a willingness to let go of our day-to-day concerns to focus on the real things: people, and their worth to God.

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

No, Mormons do not practice polygamy and discontinued the practice over a century ago. Yet, whenever I discuss my faith, often the first question asked is, "how many wives do you have?" It is important to know that the religious groups that currently practice polygamy, as often seen on the news, have no affiliation with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Even though some of these groups may claim otherwise.
