I'm a currently a college student studying biochemistry and Spanish. I recently got married. I spent two years on a church service mission in Honduras teaching about the gospel and Christ. I enjoy the outdoors, all types of sports, and piano.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and was raised in the church my whole life. However, it isn't possible to just believe what everyone else believes. When I was in my teenage years I wanted to know for myself if the church was the true church. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed each night to know if it was true. I received my answer one night that it was true. It was so plain and clear to me that I have never forgotten it. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church with a prophet on the earth today. I know the Jesus Christ is the savior and Lord of the whole earth and everyone in it.

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

Prayer is an essential aspect in my life. It helps me feel connected to God and gives me comfort. I know that what ever my problem is I can pray and ask for help and that God listens to my prayers. Prayer also helps me know what God wants for me. I can seek His guidance and help in importance choices in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to strive to follow Jesus Christ and His example. One of the most important things I do is just try to help those who I notice need help. By striving to serve and uplift others I show that I believe in Christ and follow his teachings. I go to church each week and have served in different responsibilities in the church, like a teacher, a secretary and a leader.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Families are the basis of God's plan for us. God gave us families because He knows the blessing we can receive from them. They help us give guidance and support in our lives. They also protect and serve us. Families are where the greatest joy and happiness can come from. I have learned most everything that is important from my family. They give me joy and comfort and help me in times of need.

After I joined the Mormon Church I learned about the importance of families. Not long after that I realized that if I was going to follow this teaching I needed to tell my father that I loved him. That was very difficult for me since my dad and I argued so much. I spent the better part of 2 weeks trying to determine how I could do this. When the time came I found that the words came more easily than I had thought. From that point to the time he died, about 22 years later, he and I had an entirely different relationship. We were now friends. And I found how much I regretted all our arguments while growing up. And now I find that I miss him and more fully understand how important our families are.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Saying that Joseph Smith is the founder of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint (LDS) may cause a misunderstanding for some. LDS doctrine teaches that Jesus Christ is the head of the church, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the same church that existed in Old Testament and New Testament times. The "of Latter-day Saints" in the church's name denotes that this is the last dispensation before Jesus Christ's Second Coming, or the last period of time in which the Lord has at least one authorized servant on the earth who bears the keys of the holy priesthood. The Old Testament and New Testament discuss various dispensations when Christ's church existed on the earth in its authentic state.

So, what is the importance of Joseph Smith in relation to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? Like Noah, Abraham, and Moses, Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God. He was simply a man called to speak for the Lord and played a key role in the restoration of Christ's church here upon the earth in these latter-days. Like Noah, Abraham, and Moses, we do not worship Joseph Smith, but study his life and teachings to better understand the will of God. Joseph Smith may had been a leader, but he was not and is not the head of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The head of the church is clearly stated in the church's name.
