I'm a Mormon. I was born to US parents in Germany in 1959. I grew up in Ohio, and lived in Canada and USA.

About Me

I am 50 years old, and live in Pennsylvania. My Branch is small and we are a close fellowship It has been such a blessing to be a member of the church, as I have many great brothers and sisters who share a strong testimony. I was born in Germany, lived most of my life in The United States and a few years in Canada. I like to travel and love history. I am a photographer, and like to record events and the special things that members do that we enjoy.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because our Faith is the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. The last supper illustrates how the church was established and the authority of the priesthood and the teaching and ordinance sof the Gospel through the Apostles and The Seventy. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ, but in North America. The Gospel was lost and later restored through Joseph Smith, our first Prophet. He earnestly prayed to know what church was true and received revalation that none of the day were. He was entrusted with the sacred task to restore the Church of Jesus Christ to the Earth that we might learn, serve and obtain Eternal life through learning of and making keeping the coveneants we make in the Gospel. I testify that I know this is the true Church of Jesus Christ, And that I can retuRn to my Heavenly Father through obedience.

Personal Stories

How has the Holy Ghost helped you?

I once woke up to my mother's voice calling me to come and help her. I had been roused from a sound sleep and went to her bed and she was unable to breathe and was struggling. I do not know how I helped her, but she got to breathing and was transported to hospital where she had another episode in the Emergency Room. Later I asked my Mum how she called for me and she said she had not called for me. I know it was the Holy Ghost for no other way would I have heard my mother's voice when she could not call for me.

How I live my faith

Most of all, I live my faith through my callings and service which I find very fulfilling. I teach Gospel Principals for Womens Auxilliary twice a month, serve as secretery, and help out in The Family History Center, where patrons and members come to research their family history. I REALLY enjoy the District and General Conferences.

What is the Law of Chastity?

The law of Chastitiy is to refrain from relations of an intimate nature outside of marriage. This applies whether you are 18 or 88. It is God's law to protct us from the hold of Satan and the harm that comes with such activity. It is to protect you. We do not allow ourselves into such situations that we might be alone with another married person, or another single person, so that we do not place ourselves within the grasp of temptation.

The power to create children is very sacred. Our Father in Heaven has commanded that the sacred power and privilege of sexual relations be exercised only between a man and woman who are legally married. This is the law of chastity. It means that we must not have sexual relations before we are married, and after we are married we should have sexual relations only with our husband or wife.

Keeping the law of chastity brings safety, happiness, peace, and self-respect. It also deepens married love and protects families. Breaking this law is serious. But those who have broken it can gain forgiveness and peace through repentance and obedience.

God wants the best for you and for all of His children. Following God’s plan of reserving intimacy for marriage will help you and your family be happy.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Perhaps because they see how close-knit we are as a community, and it can be somewhat hard to understand this support network if you have never been part of something quite like it.

Sometimes we hear that some others may perceive or presume that members are 'brainwashed' with information and forced to conform to some standard. To those I would say that is exactly the opposite of what actually occurs under the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You see, Satan's way is to force people to conform. Study the life of Christ and you'll understand that He never forces, but instead always invites.

Freedom to choose is something that we believe is one of God's greatest gifts to mankind, and is fundamental to our faith. All people (Church member or not) are always free to choose what to believe and how to act (we call this agency) and are encouraged to seek understanding of the reasons for any invitation that Christ or the living Prophet extends to them.
