About Me

I grew up in Pennsylvania. I'm the oldest of five kids, and I'm currently studying Political Science. I'm an avid sports fan, and hope to one day get a Master's Degree in Sports Administration.

Why I am a Mormon

Having been born into a family of practicing Mormons, I wasn't always sure that I believed these things on my accord. Reading the Book of Mormon, and gaining a personal conviction of its truthfulness, has influenced me to continue on this path to the end. I know that the Book of Mormon is from God, and that we can each gain that witness from God. He loves us, and wants what is best for us.

Why do Mormons go on missions?

I think most people can understand the innate desire to share the things which are most precious to you. Mormons go on missions to share the beliefs that have helped them to become better people. I personally had the opportunity to serve a mission for two years. The time helped me, and seeing other people come unto Christ, and learn of his love for them, was a truly remarkable experience.

How I live my faith

I live it every day! I oversee the local church scripture classes, and help our teachers to reach the members. It's an incredible opportunity to learn more about God, and his plan and love for us. I love reading from the Bible, and right now we are studying from the Old Testament. I also attend the local congregation regularly, sharing experiences with youth my age.

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

The name stems from the Book of Mormon, a book of scripture that was translated by the Prophet Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith was called by God to translate the book, which has helped millions of people come closer to God. As the church began to grow, Christians in the area sought to differentiate themselves from the growing faith. The name stuck, and we embrace it to this day, though sometimes people believe this means we don't believe in Christ. That couldn't be further from the truth!

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

No. Mormons do NOT practice polygamy. There are many people outside the Church that say otherwise, but that doesn't change the truth of the matter.

There is nobody living on this earth right now who can truly claim to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who practices polygamy. It is against the law, both of the land and of the Church. We do not approve of such things.

There are some groups of people who do practice this and also claim to be Mormons, but I assure you that they are not in any way affiliated with this Church.
