Hi, I'm Brenton
I'm a college student who loves technology, cars, and traveling the world. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I'm an college student majoring in International Studies and minoring in Spanish. I love technology, and I love seeing the world.
After serving as a missionary in Argentina I've grown to love the Argentine culture and latin culture.
Cycling, Photography, and video editing are among my many other passions in life.
Why I am a Mormon
Being a Mormon allows me to more fully understand the "hows" and "whys" of life. It helps me know who I am and provides the special perspective needed to see that. It helps me know we have a Heavenly Father who loves us and wants us to progress to reach our full potential.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ allows me comprehend a little more each day the reasons for which Jesus Christ was sent to earth, what his atonement was, and explains why his message has infinite and eternal importance for me personally.
The great plan of happiness is something that has filled my life with light, comprehension, and purpose with which words can hardly do justice.
Personal Stories
Why do Mormons go on missions?
When a person finds something they enjoy or which has brought them happiness, the natural reaction is to share it, or explain it to others so they can understand what that person is feeling or experiencing.
The gospel of Jesus Christ is no exception to this.
Not only does the gospel bring a great happiness and comfort, but knowing that a prophet equivalent to Moses or Abraham lives on the earth is a particularly powerful piece of information which many people aren't aware of.
Modern day Apostles call members of the church to serve these missions. I was personally called to Buenos Aires, Argentina and served the people there for two years.
As a missionary i learned to love the humble and amazing people of Argentina. They were so good to me and my fellow missionaries - whether they were members of the Mormon faith or not. I was able to share my testimony of the restoration of Christ's church which he had established while alive on the earth.
In addition to sharing the teachings of Jesus Christ and his prophets, I had the amazing opportunity to give service to many argentine people. Whether it was cleaning a yard, moving heavy objects, or building houses we were given a great amount of opportunities to help with, and work with such a generous people. A particularly memorable experience for me was painting the fence of a children's hospital on Christmas day. It was a special experience for me.
Modern prophets have emphasized the importance of spreading the gospel. Just like the apostles and members of the church in Christ's time had done, missionary work is emphasized in the restored church.
While missionaries provide an incredible opportunity for those looking for answers about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, so does a mission teach those who serve them an incredible amount about other cultures, and members of the church in other parts of the world.
In the two years i served as a missionary in Argentina I myself grew an indescribable amount. My testimony of the gospel was strengthened and reaffirmed countless times and I was able to see the love which our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ has for the Argentine people.
How I live my faith
As a Sunday School teacher I am given the great opportunity and blessing to prepare lessons to give to fellow members of the faith. I do this by reading about the great prophets of old and parallel them with the words of prophets and apostles of modern times.
Being able to see the Lord's hand touch countless lives on a personal level has opened my eyes to see how he is very much aware of each person's feelings, experiences, achievements and sorrows. He is just as aware of his children in times of old as his is of each of us today.
Seeing how much he cares about each one of us has given me the chance to direct my own efforts in a way that attempts to parallel his, even in small ways. Through something as simple as a lesson in Sunday School, he has blessed me with the opportunity to understand his eternal and never-ending works.
