Sherry: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Sherry

I live in Utah. I'm a wife and the mother of five amazing kids and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a stay-at-home mom to four boys and one girl and even though it's the most challenging thing I've ever done, I love it! My interests include pretty much any craft but among my favorites are digital scrapbooking and crocheting. I also enjoy reading when I get the chance, but it doesn't happen too often at this point in time. I love anything that allows me to spend time with my family. We especially love to go camping and hiking.
I finished two years of college before getting married and having children. I look forward to the time when I can return to school and finish my degree, which will be when the kids are a bit older.

Why I am a Mormon

Well, I was born into a Mormon family and am the descendant of Mormon pioneers. But around the age of 13, I went through some life-changing experiences and I came to the realization that I needed to really know for myself whether or not this church I attended weekly and that I had heard others testify of, was really true. I began to read The Book of Mormon daily and more intensely than ever before. In the beginning pages of this book it says, "Those who gain this divine witness from the Holy Spirit will also come to know by the same power that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, that Joseph Smith is his revelator and prophet in these last days, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord’s kingdom once again established on the earth, preparatory to the second coming of the Messiah." I yearned for that witness. When I finished the book, I got down on my knees and prayed fervently to know if it was true. The great warmth and joy that filled my heart and whole soul are indescribable. I knew and still know that this book is true. I also know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet and that he was an instrument in the Lord's hands in restoring the true gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth. I'm now well into adulthood and have had and continue to have experiences that continue to contribute to and build upon that testimony. I know Christ lives and this is His true Church. To have the true gospel of Jesus Christ, in the world we live in today, is so comforting and it touches every aspect of my life. I have the inner peace that comes from knowing that we have an immensely loving Father in Heaven and Savior that are truly in the details of our lives. They truly love us and want us to be happy. That no matter what may happen to us in life, because of the Atonement of our Savior, all will be made whole and well again. I'm so very thankful for this knowledge.

Personal Stories

Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.

By reading the Book of Mormon and gaining a testimony of its truthfulness, one can't help but gain a testimony of Joseph Smith as well. Even when it came to great suffering and sacrifice on his part, he never wavered in his testimony. Nothing Joseph Smith did was done to glorify himself in any way, only to glorify God. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God and that he was an instrument in the Lord's hands in restoring the gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth again. Countless times I have felt the Spirit bear witness to me of this truth.

What have you done successfully to shield your family from unwanted influences?

We have found it vitally important to make sure we are praying and having scripture study regularly, as a family and individually. Although we may not be able to shield ourselves from every evil out there, by praying and studying the scriptures, it strengthens us in avoiding and resisting those temptations that inevitably come. It helps us to feel the Holy Spirit, which helps us to make good choices.

How I live my faith

My calling at this time is a Nursery Leader. I look after the children ages 18 months to 2 years old during two hours of our three hour block of meetings. I love being with and teaching these precious children!
