Chat With a Mormon Online
I'm a college student in California. I'm studying theater, with an emphasis in acting. I enjoy playing guitar, watching movies, and hanging out with friends. I've been very blessed in my life, and have had the opportunity to do some amazing things in my life. I've traveled a lot in the United States, and spent time in Austria. I've gone skydiving, and have been sailing a number of times. I love spending time in nature. We live in a beautiful world, and I love to explore it. Hiking and camping are a few things I love doing, but wish I had more opportunities to do. I'm a pretty easy going person, just taking in life as it goes on around me. I love life, even with it's ups and downs. Life is such a blessing, and I'm very thankful for mine.
I am a Mormon because of the results of a simple prayer. I am a convert to this Church, so my testimony is one that has been carefully cultivated. But I know that this Church is true, and it is where I am supposed to be. There was one night a while ago before I joined the Church that I was feeling pretty down. Something in my heart told me I should pray. So I did. I prayed for something stable in my life a touchstone that I could always return to. Two weeks later, a very special friend came into my life. She told me about the Church, and I started looking into it. What I found was something beautiful, and answered a lot of the questions I had about life. My prayers had been answered in a way even greater than I had imagined. Not only did I gain a true friend who I love dearly, I know I can always trust but I found the answers I was looking for. Since then, my life has gained new purpose as I have focused on the important things in life. My life has been so blessed, and I have found new happiness and joy in this world. I know that I am meant to be here, where I came from and where I am going. For all these blessings, I am so thankful. That is why I am a Mormon.
I am so thankful for the Savior's example, and His teachings. He has changed how I live my life immeasurably. I have become more patient and caring. Before I joined the Church, it was easy for me to become angry or frustrated with someone. Although this is still something that can happen in my life, the Savior's teachings have helped me to refocus that energy. I always remember that we are part of a spiritual family, and I should forgive those around me. As a result, I am more patient with people and have a greater love for those around me. I'm not perfect, but I'm much better than I was before I had Christ in my life.
My baptism is such a special event to me, and certainly one I will never forget. I can remember how nervous I was in the days and weeks before my baptismal date. But when the time came, it was SO wonderful! I asked some of the close friends I'd made at Church to share a few spiritual thoughts before we did the baptism. It was truly an amazing experience, because the Holy Ghost was touching my heart, and telling me I was exactly where I should be. Then I got down into the water, and was fully submerged in water. My sins were all washed away in that moment, and I came up feeling as I've never felt before. My heart was full, and I felt so much peace in my life. I felt like I was floating the rest of the evening. It was so peaceful, so calming and euphoric. Undoubtedly, it was one of the best experiences of my life.
I am the president of the Sunday School at my Church building. I make sure that there are teachers to teach the various classes on Sunday, and help to develop their teaching skills. I also teach a few classes, when it is necessary for me to do so. I also serve by participating in Home Teaching. To do this, I go to the homes of members of the Church with another person, and teach a spiritual lesson to that person or family once a month. In my community, I try to live my life by the Savior's example. I strive to help those who need help, and try to be a good friend to the friends that I have. I hope that my actions will reflect the Gospel of Jesus Christ, so that I may inspire other people to follow Christ as well.
