Jeri Lin: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Jeri Lin

I'm a wife. I'm a mother. I'm a nursing student. I'm crazy in love with my two boys and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I met in Nauvoo, Illinois the summer of 2009. We were married in the Mesa, Arizona temple on January 2, 2010 for time and all eternity. Our son, Hyrum, was born on April 19, 2011. We love being parents.

My life consists of loving my two boys, helping my husband get enough sleep to work two jobs, and getting enough sleep myself to balance being a wife, mother, and full-time student. When I can, I love to read good books, try out new recipes, update our family blog, and go out to eat with my husband and parents.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a Mormon. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ's church. Its teachings bring me so much happiness! I love learning of what Christ has done for me, for us! He truly loves us. Our Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to return to live with Him again. We are truly children of God. We are here to learn how to be like Him and His Son. I am continually working to maintain a relationship with God and His Son Jesus Christ. As I do, life becomes just a little bit easier. I still have my personal challenges, but it helps me to gain an eternal perspective. I begin to see that these trials are here to build me up and make me the person I want to be.

Personal Stories

Could you talk about your baptism?

I was baptized when I was eight years old by my father. I remember that the water in the baptismal font was cold, but as soon as I came out of the water I felt warm, inside and out. That warm feeling let me know that what I had just done was right.

Baptism is a reminder of our commitment to Jesus Christ. Some may argue that eight is too young, but I knew then and I know now, that I love Jesus Christ. I want to be like Him. I want to return to live with Him. Baptism was my first step toward those goals.

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

Do you ever feel like no one's listening? Or if they are, that they just don't understand?

I think everyone feels this way at some point in their life. Unfortunately, we forget that there is always someone listening and that He always understands. We are children of God. He loves us and is concerned for us.

I think it is wonderful that the Savior understands all. He experienced it all. He understood what it felt like to be alone when He was on the cross and said, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" (Matthew 27:46). Perhaps He felt like no one was listening, even as He cried out in prayer, but God was listening. He could have caused Christ's suffering to stop, but He had a greater plan. Sometimes when it seems like God isn't answering our prayers, it is because He has a greater plan for us.

I pray every day, on my own and with my family. I share with him my worries, my aches and pains, my joys, my gratitude and I remember that He is always listening.

How I live my faith

I love being an active member of the church! I currently serve as a nursery leader. Nursery is the class for children ages 18 months to 3 years. We have singing time with the children, teach them a short lesson about Christ or other principles such as "I love my family", have snack time, and play toys. It is so fun to watch these children learn and grow! I also serve as a visiting teacher. Each month I go visit three different women in the ward. Mostly we sit and chat about what's going on in our lives but we also have a short discussion on a gospel principle, such as "Strengthening Families and Homes". I love sharing what we know with one another. It is such a source of strength!
