Why I am a Mormon

I was born into my faith. But even though I was born into my faith I had to decided for myself if the things my parents beleived in if they were true or not. I for myself have found the Book of Mormon to be true as I have studied and prayed about it. I know that Joseph Smith was truely a prophet of God. I know that Heavenly Father restored His gospel back on the earth by calling His prophet Joseph Smith to build up the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints. I know tha we have a living prophet on the earth today his name is Tomas S. Monson. I know that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and His Son Jesus Chirst. I know that our Heavenly Father has a plan for all His childen so that family can live together forever. Most important of all I know our Heavenly Father loves all His Children.

Personal Stories

Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?

The lesson that the Savior tought that has influenced me the most was His willingness to serve all men. I love how he willing help not only the poor but also those who were seen as sinners. I love how He didn't treat the sinner as nothing better then the dirt of the earth, but treated them as a child of God. I try and show that same love for all Heavenly Fathers children.

Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?

We do family history work so we can understand our history and also those that come after us will be able to know it too.

How I live my faith

I serve in my church as missionary. I am not like one of the missionaries you see on bikes. I am a missionary who helps people that live in the area where our covers. I help both mormons and also those who are not mormons.

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

When the Church was first formed, people gave the members of the church this nickname becasue of our believing in the Book of Mormon that is another testoment of Jesus Christ.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

One of the core teachings of the Church is the eternal nature of the family relationship and that marriage and gender play foundational roles in that relationship. Gender is an immutable aspect of our identity that has been part of us from the beginning, before this life. Viewed from this eternal perspective, marriage is more than a contractual arraignment between two people. In the Gospel of Jesus Christ, marriage involves eternal commitments, including having children and teaching them to distinguish right from wrong. In addition to the ability to conceive children, Men and women have unique parental characteristics that, when combined, create the best scenario for raising those children. Those abilities and characteristics are not present in same-sex marriages.

As far as same-gender attraction goes, the Church's attitude mirrors that of its attitude to any sexual activity outside of the marriage relationship -- complete abstinence. In that sense, the Church does not distinguish between homosexuals and heterosexuals in how it looks upon sexual activity outside of marriage. It emphasizes the cultivation of heterosexual relationships at appropriate times because it is that relationship that leads to marriage.
