Carole: Convert, Military, French, Canada, Quebec, Mormon.

Hi, I'm Carole

I'm a Mormon. My father was in the military so our family moved a lot.

About Me

I am married and have five daughters. I like reading, cross-stitching, playing the drums and doing other crafts like making paper models. I enjoy doing family history research. I served in the Canadian Armed Forces for almost three years and then served as a missionary for my church in Arizona. I met my husband when I returned home and we were married in 1985 in the Cardston Temple.

Why I am a Mormon

I was almost 20 years old when two LDS missionaries knocked at my door. I was raised Roman Catholic and had no intentions to change from following that tradition. I told the missionaries that I believed that all religions had some aspect of truth to them.

They noticed I had some Osmond record albums in my apartment. They told me that they are members of the the same faith. Would I like to know more about what they believed? I was curious.

They told me about Joseph Smith's first vision. I thought it was a nice story, but wondered if it was true. On the following day the topic was the Plan of Salvation. It blew me away. I knew what they had shared with me was true and yet I was not sure how I knew it. It was like an old memory hidden deep in the back of my mind.

I agreed to attend church the next day, a little branch in Quebec City. I was curious about what it would be like to meet other members of their church and how it would compare to my early childhood days going to church. I learned that it was a very small group and they were very friendly and sincere.

The missionaries continued to visit me almost daily. On Wednesday, after they had challenged me to be baptized, I went to my room to pray about it. I received an answer. I knew without a doubt that the true church of Jesus Christ had indeed been restored to the earth and that I wanted to be part of it.

After church the following Sunday, I met with other members of the branch at the YMCA pool in dowtown Quebec City for my baptism. I was baptized on January 16th, 1977.

I am eternally grateful for the missionaries who shared their beliefs with me. I have been a member for over thirty years now and I am constantly grateful to know where I came from, why I'm here, and where I will be going after this life is over. I know I am a child of God, that he loves me and wants me to be happy. He has given us so much to help make this a reality.

I know that God lives and that Jesus is the Christ, my Redeemer.

Personal Stories

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?

Right choices bring good consequences. The more we experience positive results from the good choices we are making the more we want to continue to receive these blessings.

How I live my faith

Currently I am serving as a Wolf Cub Leader in the Scouting program. I will often fill in and teach a class in the Primary organization for children between three and eleven years of age. I read my scriptures daily, both personally and with my family. I try to make good choices in all that I do and say as I serve my family, in my church and in also in my community. I love doing family history research and I have branched out by helping my community in projects to preserve and promote it's history as well.
