Mandi: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Mandi

I live in the state of Washington. I Figure Skate. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in utah. I have a Bachelors degree in French. I speak lithuanian- because i served a mission in the baltic countires. I spend a lot of my time figure skating, playing guitare, and learning languages. My figure skating coach is Finnish, so I am currently trying to learn Finnish. I have a Jack Russell Terrier who takes up the rest of my time when i am not at work, or commuting to work- as i have a two hour commute to work- each way.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was Raised in this church, and baptized at age 8, I have had many experiences that have helped me know that this is Gods chuch lead by his Prophet. When I was ten years old i went with extended family to another denomination. It was an interesting experience, and chuch was much more lively and exciting to me. for about a year i questioned if the things my parents taught me were true. Thru that year I took the time to read the Book of mormon, every day, all the way thru, by myself. as i read everyday I prayed and asked God to help me to know what was true, What was really his church, and if the things my parents taught me were correct, or if they were just some fantastical story. I cannot remember a time that i did not believe in God, or that Jesus Christ is our savior and that he was real, but i was not sure Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. By the end of that year, however, I came to know, and I still know to this day- Joseph Smith was called of God to restore lost knowledge to this earth, He Is a true prophet of God, and today we have a true prophet still - Thomas S. Monson - to lead and guide this chuch. After my mission I had another trobled moment. I did not doubt the truth of the church, just if I really wanted to do what I needed to, to live as christ has asked us. The things of the world looked fun, but in the end I have come to find that true happiness can come only thru living your life according to the commandments of God. Every pleasure the world has to offer is fleating and temporary. The true peace and joy of the Gospel is long lasting and deep.

Personal Stories

Why/How do you share the gospel with your friends?

I share the gospel with my friends because, first there are a lot of misconseptions about our chuch, and I would rather have people know the truth about us, and second I know that the gospel makes me more happy than anything else, and since I love my friends, I want them to have the opportunity to have the same peace and joy that I have in my life.
I share the gospel with my friends by answering their questions when they have them, and by inviting them to come to church services with me when I am speaking in our church services. People have a lot of questions about our church, and I dont mind helping them to just understand better what we believe, even if they don't have any interest in becoming a member of our church. I think the better we understand eachother and our similarities and respect differences in this world, the better we can get along, and the more peace we can have.

How can your talents and gifts bless others?

I have been blessed with some unique talents, and I love that. I think we all have those things. My language abilities can be a great help, obviously becasue language and understanding different cultures helps people come together, helps bring technology, comerce and trade over the world. I run into people all over the world who speak one of my languges, and i can help them find things they are looking for, or give them directions, for some lithuanians in Philidelphia i ran into, it just helped us all feel a little awesome becasue the chances of three people who speak lithuanina inadvertantly running into eachother in Philly cant be that great. My figure skating is a fun talent becasue i enjoy doing competitions, and shows and people enjoy watching, but even more I love to go skating with my friends and teach them how to skate better, and fall properly so they dont hurt themselves. I write songs and play them on my guitare, which people seem to enjoy and relate to my songs. it helps me and them to experess things in our lives. I also have a talent of improvising things that i or others need. lately i made a few of my friends scripture cases using cereal boxes, duct tape, and pictures from church magazines. they turned out beautiful, and didn't cost much to make, so now its a fun thing we all have and it took care of a need and didn't cost much. talents come in all shapes and sizes, so whatever you can do, it can be a big benifit to people around you.

How I live my faith

I have had a lot of fun opportunities to help out in my church, from teaching sunday school classes, to working on geneology. Currently I am councilor in the Relief Society presidency in our Young Single Adult ward.Relief Society is the Women's organization in the church. This means I get to help plan and organize humanitarian aid activities like tee shirt dresses we are making for countries where it is unacceptable for women to not wear dresses. This way we can send close that the girls in that country can actually wear. we are also gathering jewelry for a local women's shelter. I get to help the sisters in my ward also who are single moms, some of them with quite a lot on their plates.
