About Me

I am a 19 year old boy, I am from Tucson Arizona, I have been a member of the church for my whole life. I love to play sports, basically all of them, and outdoor activities, like hiking, rock climbing, and repelling. I go to college at BYU I have finished one year, I am majoring in excersize science, and after that I am gonna try to get to PT school to try to be a physical therapist..

Why I am a Mormon

The reason that I am a mormon is because it makes me very happy to know that this life is not the end, it makes me happy to know that I will be able to see my grandpa and other relatives again.. I am glad to know that because Jesus Christ died for me I can fix the things that I do wrong through his atonement, and that because of that I can be saved from a spiritual death, that there is a way to be forgiven and that brings me great joy.

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?

I have a story about when I made some good choices they in turn led me to make even more right choices, so when I was in High School, I was one of about 20 induviduals that were LDS as well as me in a school of about 1800. Naturally the people there did not know a lot about how the church actually was, they all had their speculations, but thats all they were. I made a decision one day to try to be a good example of how this church actually is so that the people at my school could have someone who actually is a part of the church to show them what it is really like. After this decision I also decided to stop swearing so much, and I decided to try to get along with my family and siblings better. Because of this I decided to do more and more things that in my mind are good things, and all of these because one day I decided to be a good example of how the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints really is.

How I live my faith

The way that I live my faith is through trying to live the things that I learn in church, and basically living a good life. I am currently on a mission so I am for sure living the gospel, and trying to get people to join this church and knowing what makes me so happy, because this church gives me a reason to be happy everyday, because I know the answer to where I am going after this life.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

The way to come to know Heavenly Father is through talking to him and reading scripture. Well this is how it has been for me, if I want to talk with God I pray to him, then he answers me, When he answers I feel the Holy Ghost, which for me is a joy in my heart, it almost feels like pressure building up in my chest but it is a good kind of feeling, and it is unmistakeable, this is just how I feel him and it is different for all people. Many times the way that God answers me is through the scriptures, mainly the Book of Mormon, and even though it was written hundreds of years ago it still seems to be the right kind of thing that I need to hear in my life. Basically the way that I came to know my Heavenly Father is by learning about Him in scriptures and also by praying to him, and I know that he is there becasuse he always answers me.

The same way that you come to know anyone better, talk with him. Our Heavenly father blessed us with prayer, which is the means by which we converse with him. Think of every prayer as a phone call, not writing a letter; expect God to answer your prayers and listen for his response. Prayer is a two way conversation and the best way to come to know our Father in Heaven and what he wants for us.

What do Mormons believe happens after we die?

We were so very sad when our very special eleven year old grandson died in 2009. He suffered from life threatening asthma from birth and was often in hospital. He caught a virus which attacked his heart causing it to go into a dangerous rhythm, which eventually stopped his heart. Every attempt was made to save him but to no avail. The night he died, I thought I might die too - I was so overcome with grief. I was grieving not only for him but for our daughter and her family too. I received enormous comfort from my family and friends, especially those in the church and the outpouring of love and support was indescribable. However, the most comfort I received was my knowledge that I absolutely knew that we would see him again in the next life and that our family would be together forever in the eternities. I was also comforted to know that our grandson would be free from his health problems and be able to have peace. Even though I miss him terribly, I know he is happy and with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I feel his spirit around me often. I know with total conviction that the Lord has unconditionally supported all of our family through this trial and continues to do so daily.
