About Me

I knew the Church of Jesus Christ was true from when I was a little boy. I felt the Holy Ghost burn within me when I was baptised at 8 years of age. My father, who was ordained an Elder in the Melchezidek Priesthood, held the authority of Jesus Christ and John the Baptist to baptise me and say unto me receive the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost has helped me discern truth from evil when I was willing and trying to be good. I married my wife for time and all eternity in the Temple of the Lord. We have been sealed to be together forever by another person who held the Melchezidek Priesthood. I am so glad Peter, James and John came to the earth in 1829 and gave that Priesthood to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery!!

Why I am a Mormon

I have felt the Holy Ghost testify to me that Joseph Smith was called by Jesus Christ to restore His church to the earth. The Book of Mormon is scripture like the Bible. It tells of Jesus Christ visit to the people here in America shortly after His resurrection in Jerusalem. He came down from heaven and blessed the people. They felt His love and wanted nothing more than to do His will. I feel the Holy Ghost touch my spirit very strongly when I read the Book of Mormon. I want to improve my life so that I can be clean when Jesus comes again.

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?

Obeying the Sabbath Day gives me spiritual strength and inspiration. That helps me withstand future temptations.

Please share your feelings/testimony of the Restoration of the Gospel.

My great-great grandfather heard that the Mormon's were weird. He decided to go to one of their meetings to find out about them. Fearing the worst, he sat at the back next to the door to make a quick get-away. From before the meeting started until after it was over, he felt the Spirit. He asked to learn more. He was given a pamphlet to read. He read it and felt the Spirit again. He joined the church within the month and has felt closer to the Lord ever since.

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

Prayer helps me ponder the good and bad in my life. Prayer helps me receive inspiration from the Lord on how to improve my life especially my trials (which are very troublesome). It has improved my spiritual nature.

How has the Book of Mormon helped you understand the purpose of life?

The Book of Mormon prophets wrote about the Lord's purpose for creating this earth. It talks about Jesus Christ's atonement so that we could receive the wonderful gift of forgiveness for our sins. It shows the awful results of sin and the wonderful results of repentance and choosing to follow the Lord.

How has the Book of Mormon brought you closer to God?

The Book of Mormon is God's word to the people who lived in the Americas during Jesus Christ's time. I want to know what God's word is. As I put myself in the shoes of those early Americans, I feel a strong desire to avoid their mistakes. I also feel the desire to choose the right and feel the closeness to Jesus Christ that they felt.

What are you doing to help strengthen your family and make it successful?

We gather together Sunday afternoons for a spiritual Family Home Evening. We then try to have a fun family activity on Monday evenings. We also read the Book of Mormon almost every night together followed by family prayer. We encourage and help our children to get good grades at school.

Can you talk about the missions of the Church and your participation in them?

In the Book of Mormon is a revelation that we will experience a mist of darkness that will blind us from seeing the truth. When I come upon things that I don't like, I ask myself if it's the mist of darkness that won't let me see the truth. Many times I am able to see the truth when I pray and choose the right. The Holy Ghost helps me.

How has your knowledge of the Plan of Happiness changed/benefited your life?

Knowing that I am God's son has helped me feel like I can overcome my trials because I am powerful. Knowing that I chose to follow God and Jesus Christ before I was born is evidence that I am a good person. Knowing that all I have to do is try my best to follow the Lord and His prophet and I will live with Him in the Celestial Kingdom is inspirational. And maybe the best of all is that I can live with my family forever.

Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?

The love that Jesus shows the people of the Americas when he came down from heaven is so promising. I hope that one day I can be clean and feel good when I get to meet Him.

Why do Mormons go on missions?

I was glad to go on a mission for 2 years to Brasil. I wanted to help others know the good news - that Jesus Christ lives and that He is leading His church through a prophet and 12 apostles. I want all of my brothers and sisters to know that.

What is hope and what do you hope for?

Hope is because of Jesus Christ. He gave us hope. His atonement and ressurection gave us the opportunity to be forgiven of our sins and become like Him. We can all live together in the Celestial Kingdom for eternity because of Jesus Christ.

What blessings have come through your faith in Jesus Christ?

Following Jesus Christ has helped me avoid many pitfalls. I have no addictions.

How I live my faith

I am currently benefitting from the Sabbath Day. I have had many trials during the week days that have brought me grief and frustration. But the Sabbath Day is a day to forget about those trials and concentrate on the good news. That news is that Jesus lives and loves us. He has called a prophet again like when he called Moses. The prophet today is Thomas S. Monson. How awesome is that? Jesus has directed President Monson to continue teaching the importance of halting daily tasks and activities on Sunday in order to read the scriptures, have family time, go to church and feel the Holy Ghost strengthen our spirits. With stronger spirits we are more able to know Jesus Christ's gospel and live more like He wants us to, with kindness and love. If the whole world did that, I think there would be more love.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

In the Bible, Jesus Christ prophesied of an apostasy before His second coming. The apostasy was over when Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father appeared to Joseph Smith in 1820. Isn't it noticeable in world history how the world is more enlightened these last 200 years?

What is a ward/stake/branch?

There is a lot of vocabulary that is unique to Mormonism, including the terms we use for our congregations.

A ward is a local congregation, usually made up of between 200-600 members. Wards have specific geographic boundaries, so which ward you attend would depend on where you live. A ward is presided over by a lay priesthood holder called a bishop.

A branch is similar to a ward, except it is smaller. They range in size from a single family to the size of a small ward. Generally, branches are in areas without a significant Mormon population, specific to a language, or for individuals who are single. Branches do not have bishops, but are presided over by a branch president.

A stake is a larger organization in the church. Several wards and branches, frequently around 12, will comprise a stake. The stake is able to support the wards and branches through additional resources and leadership. Stakes are presided over by stake presidents.
