I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born into the church and baptized at the age of 8 years. My ancestors on both sides were members of the church, and several knew the Prophet, Joseph Smith. Many joined the church in several countries in Europe under great hardships, such as being arrested or losing ties with their families and came by ships to the United States.
I and my husband are the parents of five valiant and successful children who are now raising our 19 grandchildren in five very different parts of the United States.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know with all of my heart and soul and for myself, not leaning on the testimony of any other, that this is the church of Jesus Christ, restored in it's fullness to the earth in these latter days. It is the same church our Savior Jesus Christ organized while He was here on the earth. The men in the church who hold the Priesthood of God were given this honor through a direct line of authority which can be traced back to the Savior Jesus Christ. As I have served in many leadership positions, served in the holy temple, watched my four sons fulfill missions in many areas of the world, I have witnessed many miracles that could only happen in the church organized by Jesus Christ.

Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.

In stories from Journals passed down by many of my ancestors, I have come to know the Prophet, Joseph Smith. I have learned of his kindness, humility, love of all men (even those who were constantly trying to steal the golden plates or harm his family, the other church members and eventually take his life.
I have read how the Holy Spirit testified in such strength as Joseph Smith spoke in church meeting. I have read of the miracles he performed as he lovingly healed the sick, even when so sick himself. When God and Father and Jesus Christ first appeared to him to tell him that he was to restore the truth to the earth, he was a young obscure farmboy with little education. As he was tutored from above on a constant basis, he became a learned and powerful leader and was greatly loved and esteemed by those who obeyed the teaching of the gospel. Those who were weak in testimony and fell away, quickly became instruments in the hands of Saten as he attempted to destroy the church.
Have you ever noticed how so much hatred and so many untruths are constantly being focused towards the Mormon church? It is the only church Saten is dedicicated to destroy, because it contains all the truth, which Satan doen not want anyone to understand, or he will loose his battle. He wants all men to follow his wicked ways so that they will be unable to return and live with their Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

Since I was young I have accepted many church callings, which have helped me grow so much! I have worked with the youth, the women, and the children and have learned so much about patience, love, charity, service and the kindness of others.
I worked for 16 years in an International Folk Dance Festival held every year in Idaho and have come to know and love people of many countries. I so much enjoy getting to know their customs, their countries, their traditions and interests. There are so many wonderful people in this big world!

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

When Jesus Christ organized His church, he chose 12 Apostles to ease His burdens and to help Him carry the word of God to all who would listen. They continued this work after his death and resurrection.
The same is true today. One prophet serves at a time with the assistance of 12 Apostles. I have had the opportunity of being in the presence of an Apostle several occasions, and the Holy Spirit always bears strong witness that they are indeed men of God called to this high and holy office.

The principle of a perpetuating body of twelve special witnesses of Christ comes in ancient times from the fact that the eleven survivors of the death of the Savior chose a twelfth to replace Judas Iscariot (see Acts of the Apostles 1:15-26) Two were considered worthy to take his place, but only one was chosen. When the apostles cast their lots, the inspired choice fell upon Matthias.

In modern times, the Church's organization has been one of gradual building. As the needs of the Church have continued to grow, the prophet of the Lord has been directed to add not only the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, but other supporting quorums of the Seventy as well. The structure of the local organization of wards and stakes has been given by revelation to complete it. But as the needs of the Church continue to evolve so will the structure which supports it. Christ remains the chief cornerstone and the Apostles as the foundation with Him. (see Ephesians 2:19-20 also Ephesians 4:11-14)

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

I think this is the question that I am most frequently asked. And as a woman and a member of this church, I consider myself an expert on the subject.

Mormon women are like any body of women--we're all different. We have different goals, we have different backgrounds, and we all have our own and very different struggles. But, there is one thing that unites us: and that is the love we have for the gospel, and the love that our Father in Heaven has for us. We are His daughters. We are oh so special to Him. We have been sent to this earth with talents and abilities that He knows only we can fulfill. These are things that build His kingdom--that lift, inspire, and strengthen those around us.

We believe that we are created equally. Women are not more special or more important than men. Men are not more special or more important than women. We are equal--but just because we are equal doesn't mean the things that we do are going to be the same, or even have to be the same. We work together in equality and together we accomplish what needs to be accomplished--and that can only be done as we work together.
