Hi, I'm Lynne
I am a mom of two adult children. I work as a computer programmer. I am a Mormon!
About Me
I love beauty. Since I can find loveliness in music, I am a pianist and organist. My favorite types to play are classical and church music. I also enjoy viewing gorgeous scenes of nature in my area of North Carolina so I take long walks by a small lake surrounded by pine trees near our home.
Why I am a Mormon
I am a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since I was searching for which church is true. Joseph Smith's account of his seeking for the correct religion really resonated with me. He said that he wanted to know which of the church was right and he wondered how he would know it. (Joseph Smith History 1:10) He said that he was answered by God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. Joseph was forbidden to join with any of the churches. However, he was later led by the Savior in restoring the gospel as it was anciently. I know through the power of the Holy Ghost that Joseph Smith did actually see Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son.
I also know from promptings of the Holy Spirit that the Book of Mormon is an account of Jesus Christ ministering to the ancient inhabitants of the American continents. He taught them His gospel and showed them how to live together in charity and kindness.
I know this is true because I have studied the scriptures and prayed about this. What is so important and marvelous to me is that God speaks today through prophets. He has not left us alone!
How I live my faith
I am grateful that the church is a very practical, caring religion. I have opportunities to serve others in many ways. I have picked apples from a church orchard which was used to make applesauce for needy people. I have also canned tomatoes at a church cannery and bagged groceries at a church storehouse that go to poor families. I also deliver food to elderly people (Meals on Wheels) which is something the church women's group has organized.
I am assigned other church women to visit and leave a spiritual message with them. I also have been able to see their needs and work at fulfilling them. I have a sister who is moving out of our congregation. I helped her pack and am taking care of her plants at my home. I also visited this lady after she had surgery.
I have come closer to the Savior, Jesus Christ, as I read His words in the scriptures and serve others as He would have me do. I am so grateful for the Savior's example of generosity, forgiveness and concern for others.
