Hi, I'm Linda
I'm a Mormon. I don't have horns. And I don't wear long skirts. I do love music. I'm probably a lot like you.
About Me
I grew up in Utah, home of the pioneers. I have a degree in Elementary Education, and a minor in Children’s Literature. I am married to my best friend and sweetheart. We were married in one of the beautiful LDS temples. We have six children, one boy and five girls including one set of twins. Practically all of them are grown now, with homes and families of their own. Our youngest daughter is in college. We love our home—the beauty of the scenic nature around us, and our close nit community of friendly neighbors that really care about and help one another in times of need.
Why I am a Mormon
Being a Mormon gives my life purpose. I can't imagine what my life would be like if I didn't know ‘where I came from,’ ‘why I am here,’ and ‘where I am going after this life.’ The gospel has taught me “who I am” and helped me fully realize my divine worth as His daughter of God. The gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a plan of happiness. My testimony and faith in the Savior give me strength to press forward and face my hardships with courage. I bear testimony that this Church is true. I know our Savior, Jesus Christ, lived upon this earth and suffered and died for our sins so that we might live again. I know the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. I know President Thomas S. Monson is a modern day prophet of God. The Gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints brings peace in a world of uncertainty. With His help we can return safely home to His loving arms.
Personal Stories
Can you think of a specific challenge in your family that Gospel Principles helped overcome?
God’s “Plan of Happiness” gives me courage and confidence to overcome life’s challenges. I don’t want an unforgiving heart or bitterness and disappointment to keep me from living with my family for all eternity. About 15 years ago I became ill with mysterious symptoms. My condition was misdiagnosed for a long time, resulting in a crippling form of painful Lyme disease. I was heart broken, wondering what I had done to deserve a life of pain. There was no immediate cure for me. “Father, why don’t you just let me die?” I pleaded in my prayers. I heard that still small voice within that I have come to know as the Holy Ghost. I was told to find my faith and lean on Him. Each of us has different roads to follow in this life. Sometimes the road is straight and sometimes it is bumpy with twists and turns. But regardless of the journey, each of us can have the overwhelming joy of knowing we can reach our destination with His help. Our brother and Savior, Jesus Christ, chose the road less traveled—the difficult path. He died for each of us, so that we can live again. He chose the difficult road. Our trials are not punishments. If we put ourselves in His hands, praying for God’s will, our challenges can become opportunities for growth and the knowledge we need in order to live with him again someday.
How I live my faith
Working as a volunteer in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has given me spiritual roots of strength to endure life's challenges. I know it is important to be an example in my own family and to all of God's children. I have been privileged to teach little children and also the youth of the church, helping them discover for themselves "who they are" and ‘why’ they are here. Being a member of the Church is like being a member of a large family of loving brothers and sisters—people who truly care about you and come to your aid in times of need. As we grow together, sharing our individual trials and challenges, we are strengthened by our Savior's example, knowing that no one is exempt from the storms of life. But is we live righteously, keeping His commandments, we can live with him again someday.
