I grew up in Hawaii. I believe that a little salt water cures almost anything and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just graduated from BYU with a degree in Accounting (but I don't consider myself an accountant) . I live in Hawaii with my husband. I rarely let a day go by without getting the ocean, whether it be surfing or just a quick swim. I use the ocean as my daily therapy session.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I have learned through personal experiences that it is the best way to live a happy life. I'm most happy when I am living my beliefs.

How can your talents and gifts bless others?

I've learned through teaching others about surfing that we can appreciate our talents even more when we share them.

How can we develop greater harmony in our homes?

Play! My family grew up working really hard but playing even harder. We would have adventures as often as possible and I think that doing so allowed us all to grow closer together. In the times that we played together, we learned so many valuable lessons about ourselves and each other. I'll always cherish those lessons and my husband and I plan to do the same with our own children.

How I live my faith

I always try to set good examples for those around me. I also love following inspiring examples of the people I meet. I figure if I am able to emulate those people (from all religions) around me I will be able to be a better Mormon.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Believe him. I have learned that our Savior promises us so much and we have to believe that he can come through with his promises. Once we learn to trust him, we will have more and more faith as we see his promises fulfilled in our lives.

Faith in Jesus Christ doesn't just happen. You have to work for it. I discovered my faith increasing when I decided to study the scriptures for a minimum of 30 minutes a day. Doing so has allowed me to understand the doctrines of the gospel on a deeper level. Scripture study coupled with daily personal prayer where I really try to converse with my Father in heaven, and seek to know His will concerning me, rather than give him a list of my wants and needs and ask him to grant them as if he was my personal butler. The best way I have found is to seek to do as Jesus did. Be friendly with everyone I meet. Go the extra mile and help people beyond what is expected. Avoid judging people and try to find the good in people, rather than dwell on their weaknesses. I've found that seeking to do God's will and striving to live like Jesus Christ taught us to live, has not deprived me of anything, rather by doing things Heavenly Father's way has freed me and brought me more happiness than trying to do it my own way.

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

We have a loving Father in Heaven, whose work and glory are to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. He is our Father, and wants each and every one of us to return to him. Some of His children never had the opportunity to receive the blessings of the gospel and be baptized in their lifetime. Because our Father loves all of His children, each will have the opportunity to accept the gospel, even if it is taught to them after this life. We do baptisms in the temple by proxy so that those who did not have the opportunity in this life to be baptized into the church may receive this ordinance if they desire it.
