Hi, I'm Adam
I live in Minnesota with my wife and two children, where I work in the Consumer Products industry...I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I lived on a Wisconsin dairy farm and then moved to Arkansas just before my father died of cancer when I was 13 years old. I studied American Literature in college, and later Public Administration in grad school; however, I've spent my professional career selling chocolate. I live in Minnesota with my wife and two children. I love spending time with my family, riding motorcycles, and SCUBA diving in tropical locations.
Why I am a Mormon
When my father died, I was 13 years old. I was devastated, but knew there must be a way we could be together again one day. A few months later our family invited some Mormon friends over to share more about their faith. Our friends brought with them two young missionaries who taught me that God is my Heavenly Father, that He has a plan for my happiness, and that families can be together forever. I knew what they taught me was true. I could feel it deep inside in a way I have never known anything before.
Since becoming a Mormon, I have gained a deep faith in Jesus Christ, and have come to know that through Him I can have real happiness in this life and live with my family forever.
Personal Stories
What blessings have come through your faith in Jesus Christ?
Developing and exercising greater faith in my Savior, Jesus Christ, has become a wonderful journey for me. I have learned that if I can have just enough faith to follow the commandments or persist in my discipleship, I am rewarded with an increased in my faith. I haved learned to trust the Lord because each time I exercise faith in Him, He has kept His promises every time. As my faith has incresed, I have found that I have developed a power to live righteously and keep live in perspective, even when I face significant trials and challenges. The Savior provides me with strength and support to handle anything life throws at me.
Could you talk about your baptism?
I was baptized when I was 14 years old by a close friend of our family who had introduced me to the gospel. My mother, two younger sisters, and my grandparent all attended the service although they had not yet embraced the teachings of the church. The service was simple, consisting of brief talks about the ordinance of baptism and the Gift of the Holy Ghost, singing of some hymns, and prayers.
I remember the feeling of renewal and cleansing as I emerged from the water. I knew the Savior had accepted my repentance and that this marked the beginning of a new life as a disciple of Jesus Christ.
What has helped develop greater harmony in your home?
We have found that establishing a weekly family night has helped our family tremendously. We sing songs, read the scriptures, talk about our family standards, review the weekly schedule, plan menus, and anything else relevant to daily life. This has helped us align around common priorities and develop greater unity as a family.
How I live my faith
I lead the organization for adult men in our local congregation. I have the opportunity to teach lessons on Sunday, visit families in their homes, and help people with spiritual, employment, and other needs. My wife serves in the Cub Scout pack sponsored by our congregation. We have been invited to serve in a variety of ways over the years, but what has remained constant is the frequent opportunities to interact with and help other people.
