About Me

I'm a retired army veteran. I'm married and I am Dad to two children and also have four grandchildren. I spend a lot of summertime in the yard, growing vegetables. I also do genealogical work on behalf ofmy family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert to the Church. Missionaries knocked our door many years ago and I gained a personal testimony of the gospel. I believe that the Church of Jesus Christ is the true Church and that we are led by a living prophet.

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

I pray to Heavenly Father daily to ask for His guidance to make me a better person and to help me when making important decisions in my life.

How I live my faith

I am priviledged to be a teacher to new members in our Ward. This is a wonderful calling - explaining Gospel Principles. I also have some wonderful families that I visit to hometeach .

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a record of the ancient inhabitants of America, and their dealings with God; namely, the native Americans. God is no respector of persons; He loves all His children. He wants us all to make it back to live with Him; the Book of Mormon is proof to me that God loves all people of all nations; why would he only give His Word to just the Children of Israel?
The Book of Mormon was written by the prophets that were called of God on the American Continent; they too testifed that Jesus is the Christ, and he would surely come to redeem us from our sins. The book gets it's name from the prophet Mormon, who collected the individual records kept by prophets throughout the centuries, and complied them into one volume, written on gold plates. He gave them to his son, Moroni, who buried them in a hill by what is now known as Upstate New York. Centuries later, a young man named Joseph Smith, who wanted to know which church was true, had a vision of God the Father and His Son, who told him the truth was lost over the years, and he would be a tool in the Lord's hands to restore what was lost. A few years later, that same Moroni who buried the plates, visited Joseph as an angel of the Lord, and directed him to the ancient record. Through the gift on power of God, he was able to translate the book into English. The Book of Mormon helps us understand the fullness of the Gospel; with the Bible, we can discover God's will for us.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Mormon women are strong. Mormon women are sure. We are taught from the time that we are tiny that we are daughters of God. Many people question equality between Mormon men and women because we believe in the traditional roles of the family, the classic stay-at-home mom and the working father. It makes me sad that society has degraded the role of a mother and made it seem undesirable and less than an occupation outside the home.

We believe in eternal families. We believe that this life is the one time in all eternity that we are sent to be tried and tested. If those beliefs be true than there is nothing more noble and exciting than being a mother. To be chosen to bring life into the world and to steer that life to goodness and love is one of the greatest and most impressive things that can be done.

I am proud to be a woman. I am excited to be a mother one day. I am an advocate for education and self-betterment for all. I value the differences of women from men. All of these things I learned to do from my religion. If that's not feminism I don't know what is.
