I am a CPA certified public accountant with over 25 years of experience and I like bowling and off-road motorcycle riding. I love BYU Brigham Young University sports mostly football and basketball. I like to read.

Why I am a Mormon

I like the principle of modern revelation, that God speaks to a prophet (like Moses) today. Almost all members have a responsibility in the church. All worthy male members of the church hold the priesthood. I know God speaks to us through modern prophets, scriptures, and personal revelation. I know that God lives, that Jesus is the Christ, that Joseph Smith is a prophet, that Thomas Monson is a prophet, and that the scriptures (Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price) are true.

Personal Stories

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

I pray several times a day (morning and evening. I also pray when working on a difficult CPA project at work. I prayed before taking tests in college. I pray for the success of my business. I pray each day that I can be a good husband, father, CPA, and clerk in the church.

What is hope and what do you hope for?

Hope is hope in Jesus Christ. You should hope that through the atonement of Christ and the power of his resurrection you can be raised to eternal life because of your faith in Christ.

How I live my faith

I serve as a clerk in my church calling. I train other clerks how to use the church computer software and how to keep records of local church budgets and local church attendance. I served as a missionary for the church in the United States (Oregon & Washington).

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

We believe that if a husband and wife are married for eternity in an LDS temple and live worthy lives after that they can be together forever. We believe that the children born to them can also be with them in heaven if the parents and children are worthy.

YES!!! This is one of my favorite parts of the gospel. I believe that my family will live together in heaven. I will know my family as my family members. My husband is my husband for now and for all eternity. My children are my children here on earth and for all eternity. I know that if something happened to one of us that I will see them again. I love this about the church. Before joining, I always had a question about this concept and when taking the discussions from the missionaries this came up. Makes me love the church more and more.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

We believe that baptism is essential for salvation. It is a covenant with God to obey his commandments. Christ taught that we all must be baptized. Some people die without being baptized or knowing about the Church of Jesus Christ. They must also have an opportunity for salvation. Those who have died are taught the gospel in the world of the spirits. But, baptism is an earthly ordinance. So we can perform that ordinance for them by being baptized for them, just as Christ died for us as a proxy for us, we can be baptized for others. This is authorized by Christ in his church to be performed in the temples. The person who died can either receive this gift or reject it. They still have their agency.
