Hi, I'm Kathy
I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I am a mother of two crazy, but fun, boys. I stay at home with them to help provide them with the very best environment possible. I am a college graduate and have worked outside the home a lot, but have been given the opportunity to stay at home. I am very grateful! I love to play sports and get outdoors for camping, etc. It's a good thing I have boys!!!!! They need to be outside alot because they have way too much energy!
Why I am a Mormon
I love the feelings involved with being at church and involved with the gospel. I gain a renewed testimony each Sunday and every time the Spirit whispers to me. I grew up a member of the church, but did not have a complete testimony until I was off on my own in college. I had depended upon my parents telling me so much, but when I started college I started avoiding church. I could definitely tell the difference of happiness in my life. Looking back, my life seemed very empty when I was not attending church. Being active and involved with the church, reading the scriptures, praying, etc. brings happiness to me and I feel I am getting to know myself through my spiritual eyes. I am getting to know who I was when I lived with Heavenly Father before I was brought to this earth. I love being a mormon and the strength and knowledge it brings me!
Personal Stories
How has attending Church services helped you?
I love attending church each Sunday. I feel strengthened in my relationship with my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I feel the Holy Ghost whispering to me during each meeting that I attend.
Also, each week, I have the opportunity to renew my baptism promise and repent for those things that I have done wrong throughout the week before. This is so wonderful for me. Jesus Christ has suffered and died for me and everyone and allows me to overcome my bad habits and become better as I go along.
In addition, as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we continue to see, meet, and help other members of the Church often through the week. This helps me to know that even though I live far away from my family, I have another type of family right here that would be available to help if I need anything.
How has your knowledge of the Plan of Happiness changed/benefited your life?
I believe that each decision of each day plays a role in the Plan of Happiness. I know that if I have lived a life where I have done what our Father in Heaven wants, I have raised my children to understand the gospel, and I have served others to the best of my ability, I will be blessed for these efforts. I know I would be making very different choices if I didn't have this knowledge.
What are you doing to help strengthen your family and make it successful?
Each morning before school, we gather as a family for scripture study and family prayer. I don't know if my kids are getting 100 percent of what we discuss during this time, but I do know it bring happiness and blessings into our home. I know doing this before school is so important to the strength that they feel in our family. I know that this time spent together studying the gospel and building our relationship with Heavenly Father is quality time. I feel the Spirit strengthen within me and I know it is strengthening my family too. In times like these, it is important to build this Spiritual strength to fight off those temptations and negative bullets that are coming against my boys at school.
How can your talents and gifts bless others?
I have always felt that I wasn't talented. I don't sing well. I don't play a musical instrument. I don't dance. What are called talents in our world today are these things. However, I have come to find out that I have many talents. They are just different from what our world defines. I know that Heavenly Father has blessed me with other talents that will help others to feel comfortable around me and that I have a talent to enjoy life. I know that these and other talents that I possess helps others to get to know me and to get to know the gospel and its importance.
Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?
We believe that people can have ordinances performed for them after they have died. We know that these people have the opportunity to accept these ordinances and that many are waiting to gain these ordinances so that they may continue in their progress toward returning to live with Heavenly Father again.
I have had the opportunity to work on finding my ancestors and feeling their Spirits as I was doing ordinance work fo rthem. This is one of my favorite experiences. I felt the Spirit of the Lord more at that time than at any more in the world.
Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?
Prayer is probably the most important thing I feel I can do to build my relationship with our Father in Heaven. I know when I talk with Him, I can feel closer to Him. He answers my prayers. He may not answer them in the time or way that I want, but I know that He loves me and helps me through all my needs.
How I live my faith
As of right now, I am the leader for the ladies 18 and up, but have been involved in many other aspects of the church. I love being involved with others and trying to help them as they are helping me. I know the best way to show my beliefs are to share them and to help others as Christ did.
