Why I am a Mormon

I know and understand the plan that Heavenly Father has prepared for us, so I live it everyday. I want to return to live with him. I am happy living the gospel and helping my family achieve their spiritual goals. I am Mormon because it is the right thing to be.

Why do Mormons go on missions?

We belong to a Church that is strenghtened on missionary work. I served a mission because I wanted to share to others what I believe. I am part of something extraordinary and wanted others to experience it also. If I can help others come to Christ that makes me happy. Seeing the change in people from before knowing the gospel of Jesus Christ to after is spiritually filling.

Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.

Joseph Smith lived like many of us not knowing about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He wanted to know which of all the churches on the earth was the right one. He prayed and received a miraculous visit from God and Jesus Christ. He asked Jesus Christ the question of which church to join and He answered saying none of them. From this time he was chosen to restore the true gospel of Jesus Christ. He brought about the translation of the Book of Mormon, and restored the Priesthood. Without his faith and hardwork the church would not have been grown. I know he was chosen to be a prophet of Heavenly Father to restore the true church and to make it possible to receive the ordinances necessary to return to live with Heavenly father and Jesus Christ again.

How I live my faith

We recently moved to a new area so I haven't been asked to serve yet. I've held positions working with children, and adults in helping them strenghthen their spiritual progress. I'm looking forward to serve in this area as a home teacher. I served in a Spanish speaking ward in Texas and enjoyed it very much.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

The Word of Wisdom is a principle that each Mormon lives. It is a principle that helps us physically and spiritually. We refrain from smoking, drinking, and doing drugs. We eat healthy foods and refrain from eating to much junk food. No bad things in the body. Our body is a gift from Heavenly Father and should be treated as such.

The word of wisdom is the Lord's law of health. We abstain from drugs, tobacco, alcohol, coffee, and tea, and are encouraged to eat wholesome food and grains, and not eat excessive meat. I am asked all of the time by my fellow residents at the hospital why I don't drink coffee, and how I can stay awake all night on call without it. I don't consider it a sacrifice, though, and am as awake and perform as well as any. It is true that the body will be more healthy when following the word of wisdom, the but the main benefit is spiritual. The knowledge that you are in line with the the Lord's teaching is the most important thing.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

I don't know of anyone that compares to Moses in individual character, but I have heard of many men with faith just as Moses's. Take a look at the words of the Prophets that have previously been chief-apostle of this church, their wonderful biographies and their 'good fruits.' These are men with such faith in God that they are willing to fully devote all their time and effort to proclaim His gospel, and to labor as his servants in this work.

God is the same yesterday, today and forever. God loved his children enough in the past to give them a prophet to guide them throughout their journey's. Would God love us less in these days when the journey's are so much more difficult? My answer I really Do believe that God loves us the same today, that there really is a prophet today who receives revelation from God to guide us throughout our struggles. And what a blessing this is!
