About Me

I've been a member of the church all of my life, i played 3 years of volleyball in high school and then played one year of rugby. After High school I worked for a hospital in admissions. While i was working i went to school and became and emergency medical technician. Now I'm currently in Riverside,California serving the deaf.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church but when I started to become more independent i learned that i couldn't do it on my own. That life's burdens were to much for me alone. I had to kneel and ask my Heavenly father for help.

How I live my faith

I live my faith right now by being a full time missionary. I love and serve the deaf culture. Sharing the gospel with others is a true blessing and sharing it with these wonderful people just makes it that much greater.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Family's are so important because life is so hectic. Our Heavenly Father has blessed us with the gift of a family so we can have others to help us endure.

Because family is so important to God. Why do you think God intoduces Christ as His "only begotten SON in whom I am well pleased" and not something more formal like my servant, the Christ? Why in the scriptures is God referred to as "The Father" more than any other title? why is it that naturally we come into this life into a family, whether functional or not? Families are ordained of God. Agency and human nature is what may cause us to believe other wise.
Family ought to be our foundation of education in this life. I've moved around a lot. I've attended many different schools and one thing I've learned is that it is hard to focus on my goals if I don't have a social network providing acceptance and unity. A support group I can lean on and be there to be leaned on at school. It's a miracle that God has provided that support group for the important lessons in life.
If our families aren't what they could be, we can choose individually to be an example and a friend to them as far as possible. practice the principles of repentence and forgiveness. Understanding that our families are meant to be eternal helps us to not allow the small things to obstruct our relationships.

Why did your church previously practice plural marriage (polygamy)?

Many of the prophets of the old testament practiced plural marriage under Gods direction; among them Abraham, Issac, Jacob, David and Solomon. It is an ancient practice. I know that God only allows it's use under his authorization. There have been instances, one in the Book of Mormon to be exact (Jacob 2:27-30) where God has condemned the practice. Given the fact that God has, throughout history, alternately prescribed and condemned the practice I believe that it is a situational doctrine where God, having all of the information, and us not having it all, reserves the right to make a judgment call, taking all things into consideration, and either prescribes it or ends its use, basing his decision on the needs of the moment and all other factors involved. So the answer to this question is that the church practiced polygamy because God prescribed it at that time, and we don't anymore because God revealed that the practice was to be discontinued. When plural marriage was practiced only a handful of men were selected by God to participate. It was, by far, not practiced by all men or women in the church. The ones who participated were obeying a commandment from God, not necessarily seeking out the practice.
