Wendy.: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Wendy.

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My body tells me I'm 50 something. I am a wife, mother, grandmother and big sister. I live in the western United States. One thing I've learned is that life very seldom goes the way you expect it will. I am learning to be prepared for detours!

I work full time as a teacher's assistant at a local elementary school. I do medical transcription at night. In my spare time I like to do family history or read books, gardening, or just hang out with my family. My husband commutes 40 miles to work each day. We are helping to raise our two grandchildren. Our daughter and her two children live with us. Life is busy and wonderful.

Why I am a Mormon

The more I study, reflect and pray, the more it crystalizes in my mind and heart that this is really such a beautiful, simple concept and joyful way to believe.

I breathe and live this way of life. It is just a natural way for me to live. It is who I am.

To believe there is a loving Heavenly Father who knows my name.
To believe that MY little prayers are important to Him even though there is a huge world with millions of people out there asking for help. He hears all theirs as well.
To believe that Jesus gave His life for me so that I can go back Home. He made it possible for me even though I am not perfect. He paid the price for me. Heavenly Father knew I would make mistakes. Christ made it possible for me to overcome and return Home.

All He asks is that I try my best, believe in Him, repent of mistakes and keep trying. So I keep trying, every day.

It's simply beautiful and I can hardly believe that anyone would do something so lovely for me.

Personal Stories

How has your knowledge of the Plan of Happiness changed/benefited your life?

The Gospel has given me knowledge, courage, and hope to be able to cope with this life, it brings joy into my life.

To believe there is life before and after this one. To know where I came from, why I'm here and where I'm going is what so many people are seeking in this life. The Gospel has those answers.

I have had the usual ups and downs of this life, and who hasn't? I have lost an infant son and 3 other unborn children. We have had health scares, unemployment, financial, marriage challenges, watching our parents age and become caregivers ourselves. There are seasons of joy as well.

This life can be so difficult at times and the Gospel helps to make sense out of what happens in this life. When met with life's trials I am lifted up and able to better endure what I have to face. I have a sense of peace. I have a sense of joy and a knowledge that there is a loving Heavenly Father with a plan for me. I can turn to Him for strength, help and comfort.

How I live my faith

There is a wonderful sense of community, fellowship and belonging.

I love the way things are organized. We know our neighbors. We keep in touch with each other to make sure needs are met. We have quick response time when there is a need. I know if I ever have a need, be it a shoulder to lean on or a meal brought in, I know someone who cares for me will be there to help me.

Every month I have a group of 5 or so ladies that I have been asked to visit and see if they have any needs. Some are phone call visits, some are in person. If there is a need I can't fill I let the leaders know and those needs are met. These ladies become my friends.

Every month my husband has a group of 5 families or so he goes to visit to make sure their needs are met and to report back what their needs are. Then those needs, if there are any, are met.

On Sundays during Sunday School I am learning genealogy. We have a member expert in that field teaching anyone who wants to learn how to do that.

On Monday evenings we gather our family around and have a prayer and short lesson about whatever principle our family needs to learn about. Sometimes we just have some fun family time. This is just a way to spend time as a family to strengthen our family ties.
