Vicky Donelson: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Vicky Donelson

I am the library assistant at Carlisle County Middle School at Bardwell, Ky. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Murray, Utah and moved to Tennessee with my family when I was 14. I love to play golf, garden, hiking/camping, oil painting, and I am learning to play the piano, I love to cook and decorate cakes. I have one awesome daughter, Kasey and my husband is Keith. I like to serve others in the community, church etc.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a Mormon. I love having the Holy Ghost for a constant companion. I love the fact that we have a living prophet to guide us and who receives revelation. I love the temple and how close we feel to the Savior when we visit His holy house. Being a Mormon makes me happy. We have a health code known as the Word of Wisdom that helps us take care of our body. We have men who hold the priesthood that can give us a blessing when we are sick or afflicted and by our faith we are healed. We know that we can be together as a family after this life is over. We know that we lived with God, our Heavenly Father as spirits before we came to this earth and because Christ died for us, we will live with him again if we keep His commandments. We know that our Heavenly Father loves us, and is interested in our personal lives. He is a loving, caring father. Being a Mormon gives me peace of mind even in troubled times. We have the Book of Mormon, a Second Witness of Jesus Christ, that confirms the truth of the Bible, that Christ did live and that He is the Son of God, our Savior and Redeemer. I like the fact that we can go to church anywhere in the world and find the same gospel, the same lessons, the same teachings, the same fellowship. I love that the church teaches self reliance and how by paying our tithing and fast offerings we can help all people of the earth no matter what church they attend when they face catastrophies by offering assistance. This church helps us become like Christ and help others to do the same. We would love all people to come to know the Savior so they can have the same joy in the Lord and have their families forever. I love the joy and blessings that come from being a Mormon. We dress modestly, take care of our bodies, speak clean language, seek clean entertainment, look after one another and love the Lord with all our hearts. We pray individually and as a family every day. We read the scriptures daily, spend time together as a family, encourage education and improving your mind for your entire life. We encourage to not only believe in Christ, but to believe him. To go about doing good like He did, and strive to be like him. I love Jesus Christ, Heavenly Father, and the Holy Ghost with my whole soul and all my heart.

Personal Stories

Could you talk about your baptism?

I was baptized when I was eight years old in Cathy's Creek, outside of Hampshire, Tennessee by my grandfather Raymond Pennington. I remember there were some kids swimming in the creek and Grandpa asked them if they would get out of the water. They stood on the shore with my family while I went into the water with Grandpa. I was given the gift of the holy ghost by the laying on of hands that afternoon in my Grandmother's kitchen by my dad. It was an exciting day for me and my family.

How I live my faith

I have worked with the youth at church for the last 20 years. I love working with teens, they have so much energy and faith. I have played the piano for the children and the women, they are patient with my many mistakes. I like to help others come to know our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He loves us so much, we can feel that love when we serve others.
I have taught painting classes for 4-H Clover College, volunteered for the school system and served on the board of directors at the local golf course.
