I am an avid follower of ballroom dancing. For over the past 10 years I have been involved with competition Latin and Standard Ballroom. I am now a professional judge and I enjoy seeing others develop the same passion I have for it.
I have chosen to be a Mormon because of my personal relationship with God the Eternal Father, His son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. At the age of 17, I was determined to know if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was true. As I studied the scriptures, I began to learn of God and His Son Jesus Christ. I felt as if I had a personal relationship with them. This relationship has helped me continue feeling the love of our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ through the influence of the Holy Ghost. I continue to follow His gospel because I have seen the blessings of love and happiness in my life, my family, and my extended family. I know this love and happiness comes from living His principles and keeping my promises I made with Him. I know the gospel of Jesus Christ will lead us to everlasting happiness. I know that my membership in His Church unites me with Christ, which will allow me to re-unite with my Heavenly Father.
There are four purposes to the Church 1. Help members live the gospel of Jesus Christ 2. Gather Israel through missionary work 3. Care for the poor and needy 4. Enable the salvation of the dead by building temples and by performing vicarious ordinances. I participate in these areas by adjusting my lifestyle to meet these purposes. Through my current assignment in the Church, I am responsible to ensure that the gospel of Jesus Christ is taught to members in our area. I also donate time and money to local non-profits to assist in caring for the poor and needy. Finally, I go to the temple regularly to perform vicarious work for those who have passed onto the next life.
As we live our lives, we find that many choices are placed before us. Making a right choice assumes that we are following some moral compass that affects whether it is a right or wrong choice. For me this moral compass is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Since my faith is in the gospel and that it will bring me back to the presence of my Heavenly Father, then all my choices align with the gospeI. So when I make a choice that is "right," I find that I am happy that I have made a choice that aligns my established compass. Ultimately, I believe that it continues to align me personally with Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father.
Mormons go on missions to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. One of our purposes of the Church is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. Until everyone has heard the gospel, it is our responsibility to continue teaching His gospel to all the world.
The Book of Mormon has brought me closer to God by understanding how others from a different time and place have come closer to God. The stories and principles taught in the Book of Mormon are shared by us today. I find that each story relates to something I have expereienced everyday. These experiences continue to strengthen my faith in God and ultimately I feel closer to God.
I live my faith by serving in my community and my Church. I participate with local non-profit organizations to provide opportunities for all elementary students to gain confidence in themselves and others by participating in ballroom dancing. I help organize yearly events for local elementary students to dance and interact with each other. I also serve in my Church as the person in charge of coordinating classes and training for Church members and teachers to learn the gospel of Jesus Christ. I also encourage individuals and families to study the gospel and keep the commandments.
