Fred: National Park Ranger, Veteran, Husband Father, choir member, retired Federal LEO, 5th Gen Utahn, Mormon.

Hi, I'm Fred

I've lived throughout the United States and in the Panama Canal Zone. I am a National Park Ranger, a singer, and I am a Mormon

About Me

I'm retired and currently spend most of my time involved with a 200+ member choir. I spent 35 years as a Park Ranger and Superintendent at several National Parks across the United States. I'm a father with grown children and several grandchildren. My educational background is archeology and mathematics.

Why I am a Mormon

While my ancestors joined the Church soon after the restoration, my father was not a church-going individual and I realized that I had to decide for myself who I would be and what I would believe. Experience taught me that I had to decide how to live my life and I carefully considered the examples of my grandparents and then read extensively about the gospel, ancient and modern, and through all those experiences came to a realization that this Gospel was true. There had been a falling away and a restoration was necessary and a young man, named Joseph, was selected to be the person through whom that restoration would occur.

Personal Stories

Why/How do you share the gospel with your friends?

As with all things, good examples provide the best teaching. I have always felt that quietly living the teaching and the principles of the Church, convey the strongest message of what I believe and the truthfulness of the gospel.

How I live my faith

Someone once said, the first requirement is to show up! Long ago we made the quiet commitment to consistently attend our meetings and fulfill our assignments and responsibilities. Although there were times when we lived 75 miles or 43 miles from Church, we attended every Sunday we could. I have served in leadership positions and have taught Adult Sunday School for several years. Currently my wife and I as the Cultural Arts Specials in our stake. The Choir in which I participate has a religious mission and this provides great opportunities for community involvement.
