Mark: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Mark

I am a singer/piano player. I am a black male. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a black male. I'm currently Serving a full-time mission for the church. I was born in New York and lived there until I was 11 years old. Then we moved to Indiana. I sing and play piano. I also ballroom and tap dance. I was raised as a non-denominational christian. I was raised by my single mother who is a non-practicing Catholic, but she is the best mother on the planet. I Went to college for a year for vocal performance, but want to pursue a career in Music Therapy and I have one sibling, a sister.

Why I am a Mormon

I didn't know what a "Mormon was before I moved to Indiana. I joined the scouting program that the church has and made a lot of great friends. I was always asked if I wanted to know more about the church and as a 12 year old boy I would decline the offer. But they never pushed the issue though. They just continued to be great examples of being Latter-day Saints. I started going to church with my friends on a regular basis, because I felt comfortable there. Then one day after the first hour of church I was approached by my best friends older brother, who at the time was preparing to go off to college. He asked me if I had met with the missionaries before. I said, "No," so he took me by the arm and walked me over to the missionaries and said, " I think this kid wants to meet with you." At first I didn't know what to say. What did he get me into. But I looked up to and respected him so I started meeting with the missionaries.
About a year or so later I was having dinner with a good friend and his family when his mother, whom I love and respect a lot, made a comment that I needed to be baptized, because I was needed to help the young men of our area grow and progress. I pondered on that when the phone rang and it was the missionaries calling to see if I could come home so we could talk. When I got there one of them looked me in the eye and said, "Mark, you have been coming to church for a long time and you have been meeting wit the missionaries for a while too. We wanted to ask you a question. Will you be baptized on June 29th. I was taken aback. After my friends mothers comment and then the missionaries having me come home to invite me to be baptized was very overwhelming feeling of peace and joy. I took that to be the answer that I was looking for. My Heavenly Father wanted me to become a member of his church and to be a follower of his son, Jesus Christ. So I was baptized on that date and I am so grateful for my missionaries and their trust in our Heavenly Father. I know that this is the true and living church. I know that Joseph Smith is the Lords prophet who brought back the fullness of the gospel as taught by Jesus Christ when he walked the earth. I know the Book of Mormon to be the word of God and that anyone who reads the contents of that book will come to know of this also for themselves. I know my Savior lives and that he cares about us and know who we are individually. I am grateful to hold the same priesthood(power of God) as did the prophets and apostles of old. I know all this to be true. I so testify.

How I live my faith

As of right now i am serving a full-time mission for the church. I have dedicated two years of my life to bring the joy and happiness that the restored gospel brought to my life, to the lives of others.
Before serving a mission I served with the young children of the church. I taught them the fullness of the gospel as well learned a lot from these young people. I also enjoyed helping the teenagers of my area to have good, clean fun: Ballroom Dancing, Line dancing, musical programs about our Savior, and many other things.
