I'm a Mormon, newlywed, and photographer.

About Me

I am 23, and just starting out my life with my husband of two years. I grew up in a Mormon home and have been so blessed to have the church in my life since i was born. Today my husband and I work everyday to do what is right by praying, reading the scriptures, and attending our church meetings. Life gets so crazy as we both work, and go to school full time. Sometimes it feels like to much, but I know that if we keep the Commandments the Lord does bless us.

Why I am a Mormon

I have felt the love of my Savior in my life in times of trials. Jesus Christ attoned for my sins so that I can be forgiven, and return home to heaven at the end of this life with my family. I know this church is true. I have studied the scriptures and prayed with the true desire to know if the church is true, it was a struggle, and it took time but I have felt of his spirit, and know for myself that it is true. This answer is what gives me the strength to continue when times get hard.

Personal Stories

How has your knowledge of the Plan of Happiness changed/benefited your life?

I know that I can be with my family forever, if I keep the commandments and live in harmony with Christ's teachings, this helps me when I feel tempted, to choose the right, becuase my ultimate goal is to be with my family forever.

How can we develop greater harmony in our homes?

Service- When we serve others we forget about ourselves and bring joy into the lives of others in our home. It feels good to serve, and brings peace to know that you did something for someone else without anything in return.

Why/How do you share the gospel with your friends?

By example. Its important to be a good example around others, so that they my see the light of Christ through you.

Why do Mormons go on missions?

A mission is a opportunity for us to share with others the happiness and peace that the Gospel brings to us in our lives.

What are you doing to help strengthen your family and make it successful?

We read our scriptures everyday. We also have morning and night prayers together and pray for eachother. We have one day a week where we go out just the two of us on a date. We take turns planning the dates and it is the other persons job to be a good date! That way we learn more about our spouse that we may not have known, and experience new adventures together. We have grown closer together as best friends.

How I live my faith

I am blessed to teach the eight year olds in our ward with my husband. As they prepare to be baptized they learn and understand what it means to be a member of the church. Attending their baptizims is such an amazing experence to feel the spirit, and to feel of their Christ like faith.

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

It is important to be proactive. Keep the family computer in a busy place to discourage the temptation. Stay close to your Heavenly Father by praying and reading your scriptures everyday. Decide and be deturmained to never watch/listen anything inaproperate. Teach our children by our example.

Since I do not think legislation will ever be enacted against it, we will have to stop it one person at a time. I think the key to this is placing the proper barriers between your life and the damning influence of pornography. That means staying away from unwholesome places, and putting the proper protections on your electronic devices. It also means controlling your thoughts.

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

A ward or branch is the local unit of the church. This is the place where members have the opportunity to develop friendships and to help one another. We get support and lessons on the scriptures and how to improve our family relationships.

Our Heavenly Father expects us to lift and serve one another in this life. This is the principle behind a volunteer clergy. The local leader of a ward or branch calls on various members on the ward/branch to volunteer their services in teaching and leading the other members. We all donate our time and thus are able to lift and serve on another. The leaders seek divine guidance in making these callings. We who have been called to also seek divine guidance in fulfilling our positions.

We each try to follow the teachings of an ancient prophet who taught that when we are baptized we "are willing to bear one another's burdens, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort." (Book of Mormon, Mosiah 18:8-9).

Through our volunteer service, members lift one another's burdens and express our love to one another.
