Tiffany: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Tiffany

I am a musician, a master gardener and a mother. I am a Mormon

About Me

I am a mother of 4 great kids. I am married to my high school sweetheart. I have a degree in Horticulture with a minor in Music. I am an Elementary School Orchestra Teacher I play the violin. I also work as a landscape designer. I love my life!

Why I am a Mormon

I am happy because I know my Savior loves me. I know that the true source of joy in this life comes from following the teachings of Jesus Christ and trying to love and serve others the way He did.

I love to read the Bible and the Book of Mormon every day. Doing this gives me strength to overcome trials and disappointments.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints teaches that we are here on earth to show our Heavenly Father that we will be obedient to whatever he asks of us. Because Jesus Christ paid the price for our sins, if we keep his commandments, we can live with him again after we die.

I love how the church teaches the importance of families. I know that if we are faithful to the promises made in holy temples, families can be reunited and remain together even after death. I love teaching these truths to my children. I can see how the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints helps my family to be happy. Reviewing these teachings every day through family prayer and scripture study helps my children to remember that their Savior, Jesus Christ, loves them and he has a plan for them to be able to return to Him.

Keeping His commandments brings blessings, peace, and happiness. We can know our Savior and what he would have us do in our lives. We can know that he loves us and has a plan for us.

I know my Savior lives. I know He loves me!

Personal Stories

What have you done successfully to shield your family from unwanted influences?

We are very careful about the movies, TV shows, music, and video games that we allow our children and ourselves to watch. We try to participate in entertainment that makes us feel happy and inspired. We try to limit the time we watch TV and play video games so we can use that time to participate in wholesome recreational activities. We love to play outside, go camping, and visit museums together.

My husband or I regularly take our children on an "interview". This is a one-on-one time to find out about their lives, their friends, their concerns. We listen to whatever they want to talk about. These moments help us to recognize warning signs that if left unaddressed, might become a problem. We like to ask our children what we can do to be a better parent to them. I treasure these "interview" times.

Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?

We do family history work so we can know our ancestors. When we have discovered our ancestors, we visit the temple to perform work for them that they didn't have the opportunity to do for themselves while they were living on the earth. We believe that our ancestors have the opportunity to accept or reject the work that we do for them in the temple. We believe that this work performed in temples can unite families for eternity .

I have learned much about myself as I find out about my ancestors. As I read about their lives, their joys and their struggles, I feel a love for them. I can't wait to meet them again.

How has the Holy Ghost helped you?

The Holy Ghost helps me to know the difference between a bad choice and a good choice. Sometimes I have to choose between two good choices. The Holy Ghost helps me to know which of those choices are the BEST choices for myself and my family. For example, since I am a busy mom, I must be careful to fill my time and my children's time with things that will help them the most. I must be careful to not overschedule them with extra-curricular activities so we can have time as a family.

The Holy Ghost also provides comfort when I feel discouraged or afraid. He helps me remember that my Savior loves me. I feel warm inside when I make correct choices. I know that this warm feeling is the Holy Ghost confirming my choice. I know I must repent recognize my mistakes, apologize to those I've wronged, pray for forgiveness, and resolve to never do it again every day so that I may have the Holy Ghost always with me.

How can your talents and gifts bless others?

We believe that because we are all children of God, he has blessed each of us with unique talents and gifts. He blesses us with these gifts so we can help others. One of my gifts is music. I love to use my musical ability to bring peace into people's lives. For example, I have had many opportunities to play my violin for beloved family members as they are sick or in need of comfort. I also love to play my violin in our Sacrament meetings. I play, not to perform, but to bring a spirit of reverence and peace. I also love to play bluegrass music. In a few weeks we will be having a Harvest Fair for our community and congregation. I will be playing my "fiddle" as part of the entertainment. Music makes people happy. It makes me happy to share my gift with others.

Other gifts may be, a listening ear, compassion, understanding, patience, love...

Everyone has a gift from a loving Heavenly Father. He wants us to use our gifts to help others. When we do this, he blesses us with more gifts.

How I live my faith

Since enjoying nature is one of my favorite things, I was happy to be asked to be the Girl's Camp Director for the girls ages 12-18. We just returned from our annual Girl's Camp. For us, Girl's Camp lasted 4 days in the mountains. The girls were not allowed to bring cell phones, ipods, or other electronic devices. We used this time away from these influences to help the girls focus on their goals and what they wanted their lives to become. They also built bonds of friendship with each other that will strengthen them throughout the year. Our girls had a wonderful time learning about their relationship with their Heavenly Father while enjoying His creations.

Service is a big part of my life. I like to look for opportunities to help others in my community. I like to organize groups of people to complete that service. I have found that people of all faiths have a desire to help one another. I also find joy in growing a large garden so I can share my produce with those in need.

My children have also felt the joy of service. Every few years for their birthday, my children organize a service project. After researching a need in the community, they design a project around that need. At their birthday party, their friends bring donations for the project instead of birthday gifts for my child. These projects are the highlight of their year. They are always on the lookout for another service opportunity. They love helping others.
