I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up around the US but lived most of my childhood in Southern California. I currently live in the Kansas City area with my husband and four children. We feel so blessed to be here at this time while a temple is being built and the church is growing in leaps and bounds.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church. My earliest memories of church are of going to primary and singing songs about Jesus Christ's love for us and knowing that I am a child of God. Through my youth while I did struggle from time to time I always remembered the incredible feeling of love and peace when I went to church and the freedom I felt when I followed the teachings and commandments. I developed a deeper understanding of my purpose here on earth and what the Atonement meant to me in my early adulthood.

Being a member of this church and participating and partaking of the guidance I receive has brought me a tremendous amount of peace and joy...even through the trials I have experienced. I know without a shadow of a doubt that God is real and that he loves me and wants me to be happy and live with him again. I know that following the commandments that I am given in this church has brought me a better understanding of who I am and the kind of influence I want in my life and the kind of person I want to be remembered as. I know that Christ lives and that he is my savior. I see Him in every aspect of my life and I know that my happiness derives from my commitment to Him and His teachings. I strive every day to repent of my mistakes and to do better in areas of weakness. I love this gospel and My Lord.

Personal Stories

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

Prayer plays a vital part in my life! It is the way I commune and communicate with my Heavenly Father. To receive personal revelation and guidance on anything from major life changing decisions to every say struggles or triumphs. It gives me the ability to feel the Holy Ghost and his influence in my home and in my conduct daily.

How I live my faith

Every day. I currently have a calling as a member of the committee that organizes activities for the members of our ward. Now that my oldest son has the care that he needs on Sundays. He is not able to attend church I am hoping that I serve in additional areas. I love being involved and serving where ever I am needed. I also help a fellow member who organized a non-profit organization which provides Christmas gifts and food for families in need in our immediate area. It is a large under-taking but it is so rewarding to see everyone pitch in and help with raising funds, purchasing gifts and food, wrapping and delivering these goods before Christmas. I am so blessed to be part of such a wonderful and serving project.

President Thomas S. Monson is our current prophet. He is called of God to receive revelation for us today. I am grateful for living prophets and apostles to lead and guide us in this troubled world. I know that they are called of God, and if we follow their counsel we will be happy.

Why did your church previously practice plural marriage (polygamy)?

Why did Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David and Solomon practice plural marriage? Because God told them to. So why did Mormons practice polygamy? Because God commanded us to. There is nothing new about the concept of polygamy. It is only a tool that the Lord sees fit to put in place on his own time.

Any other reasons for it are God's reasons and the fact of the matter is that an all knowing, perfected being, who also happens to be the father of our spirits commanded that it should be done. It really all comes down to your faith in God.
