About Me

I love music and the Spanish culture! I served a mission for the church in Southern California where I learned Spanish. Now, I use that talent to bless the lives of others as a teacher and interpreter. I play many instruments and enjoy reading almost anything I can find!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, but I had to gain my own testimony of being a Mormon. I have seen the blessings of the gospel in my life. It has helped me through many problems and difficulties. I know that Christ lives and He is there for us no matter what hapens in our lives. The Book of Mormon has shown me how to have a happier life!

Personal Stories

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?

By making right choices, we are able to grow and learn. As we make one right choice, we feel good and can see the blessings. This leads us to make more right choices because we want to keep that feeling with us.

Why do Mormons go on missions?

We go on missions to share the true Gospel with others. It's not something we are forced to do and we pay our own way. I served a mission in Southern California because I chose to. I wanted to share with others the blessings that I have received in my life by following the teachings of the church.

How has your knowledge of the Plan of Happiness changed/benefited your life?

Because of the Plan of Happiness, I know life continues beyond the grave. I know that my family can be together forever. When my grandfather died my senior year of high school, we were all saddened but my immediate family and my grandmother were at peace because we knew we would be with him again.

How I live my faith

I work in the Spanish congregation leading the music on Sundays. I also teach music and Sunday School classes to the children. Working with the children has given me the chance to organize activities for the children in the area!

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

The Word of Wisdom is the Lord's law of health for us. God has given us this protection to benefit us. By avoiding coffee, tea,tobacco, alcohol and drugs we receive many blessings from God. When we avoid these substances, we are promised blessings of health.

The word of wisdom is the Lord's law of health. We abstain from drugs, tobacco, alcohol, coffee, and tea, and are encouraged to eat wholesome food and grains, and not eat excessive meat. I am asked all of the time by my fellow residents at the hospital why I don't drink coffee, and how I can stay awake all night on call without it. I don't consider it a sacrifice, though, and am as awake and perform as well as any. It is true that the body will be more healthy when following the word of wisdom, the but the main benefit is spiritual. The knowledge that you are in line with the the Lord's teaching is the most important thing.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

It's funny, I used to call the Mormon Church a cult too. I just didn't understand it.

Mormonism isn't weird or strange. Its members don't perform satanic rituals or brainwash teenage boys into walking around from door to door in suits and name tags (nor is anyone forced to -- everyone who chooses to serve a mission does so out of their own free will and choice).
I used to call Mormonism a cult because it seemed foreign and unfamiliar, which I deemed scary. The same thing happened to Jesus' first followers as well: they were accused of cult worship too! Others who understood little of what Mormons truly believe told me lies about so-called "practices" in the church which, in reality, were just made-up stories and falsehoods intended to give the church a bad name.
When it comes down to it, a lot of people just don't understand this church, and lies about it spread like wildfire. Mormons believe that Jesus is the Christ. He is the Savior and the Redeemer of the world, plain and simple.
Is that so weird or cultish?
Today, there are close to fourteen million members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints worldwide, and more live outside of the United States than inside. That doesn't seem very cult-like to me!
