Amy Sanford: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Amy Sanford

I'm a mom, a wife, a sales executive, a blogger, a photographer and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in Utah with my husband and our two beautiful girls. My weeks are filled with work, running my girls to their lessons, spending as much time with my family as possible and blogging about it. During the weekends we like to spend family time playing or getting things done around the house. I have recently been released from my favorite calling and will now spend every other weekend preparing my primary lesson.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because my faith in Jesus Christ is what gets me through the tough times and the wonderful times. Going to church and partaking of the sacrament gives me the strength to accomplish my goals for my family while working full time. By being a Mormon, I know that I can be with my husband and daughters forever.

Personal Stories

Why do Mormons go on missions?

A missionary is called to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those who have not heard it.

When I was 10 years old, my great aunt went on a mission. Prior to that time, I did not realize that women could serve missions. As our family was gathered to say farewell, I decided at that moment that I would serve a mission.

During the 1984 Olympics, I was so amazed that Russia had chosen not to participate. As I was watching the Olympics I "decided" that I would go on a mission to Russia.

Everyone teased me because a missionary does not get to choose where they are going to serve. They also teased me because there were no missions in Russia.

9 years later I left on my mission as a 21 year old to serve in the Ukraine Kiev Mission. My mission was the hardest time and the greatest time.

Going to Ukraine provided such a wonderful opportunity to teach the Gospel and to share the truthfulness of Jesus Christ's atonement. During my 18 months as a sister missionary, we met many wonderful people. Several made the choice to be baptized and become members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Serving a mission was a wonderful experience and I pray that my two girls will choose to serve a mission when they get older.

How I live my faith

Each night, our family gathers for prayer. Over the years, the girls have learned so much about prayer and what it means to be respectful and grateful.
Every morning we start our day with family scripture study. We may only get through a few verses a day but we are setting a habit and starting our day inviting the spirit and thinking about our Savior.
On the weeks that I teach Primary, my girls are able to see that a calling to serve in the church is something to work hard at and always strive to do better. They are learning that a job in the church is important work and it requires sacrifices. My calling has strengthened our family and helped us become more involved in our ward.
