Hi, I'm Bonnie
My husband baptized myself and my daughter into this church. We love the opportunities this church has given us!
About Me
I joined the church in 2001 and have grown spiritually since then. I enjoy the many callings that I have held since being a member of this church. I enjoy camping and hiking and just sitting and looking at all of God's wonderful creations.
Why I am a Mormon
I was first exposed to the church through my babysitter who is LDS. I was intrigued by the fact that families can be together after they have passed away and by the extensive genealogy work they do to get names of deceased person so that work can be done for them so they can have the opportunity to be with there family for eternity.
Personal Stories
Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?
It is not only the fun of discovering where our ancestors came from or what they did, it is knowing that we can give these ancestors, who never had the knowledge before the opportunity to accept the gospel by standing in for them in the temples of the Lord.
It’s because we believe that the crowning blessings of our temples are the sealing ceremonies that unite men, women and children in eternal family relationships. We want everyone to have a chance to enjoy them—even our ancestors who have already died—so we perform these sealings and other temple rites for them by proxy. Those who have died then have the chance to accept or reject them in the spirit world. Consequently, genealogical or family history research is the essential forerunner of temple work for the deceased.
How I live my faith
I do my best to fulfill all of the callings (volunteer assignment from the Bishop in our church) I have been given. Some of those callings have been to teach 12 year old girls Sunday school, secretary of the Young Women ages 12-18 group and I have been in charge of getting announcements and printing them in a weekly & monthly Sunday bulletins. Currently I am the the librarian in our building's media center where a member can check out material such as videos, books and other lesson materials. I have found myself doing more work in the community than I would have ever done if it was not for the fine example of others in the church who have taught me compassion.
